SONOMA, California – March 26, 2024 /ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – Runners, take your marks for a milestone summer fitness celebration in the heart of Northern California’s famed wine country. The Napa to Sonoma Wine Country Half Marathon (N2S) is excited to announce its 20th anniversary race, with the Charles M. Schulz-Sonoma County Airport (STS) returning as the title sponsor.
The world class destination event returns the weekend of July 20 & 21, inviting runners of all abilities to experience a course that’s as challenging as it is beautiful, winding through rolling vineyards and culminating in a finish line Wine Tasting Festival under the sunshine at the historic Sonoma Plaza.
“This year, we’re not just running; we’re celebrating two decades of unforgettable journeys, scenic beauty, and the vibrant spirit of the wine country community,” said Phyllis Blanchard, VP of Commercial Partnerships for the event. “We’re pulling out all the stops to celebrate this milestone, with more wineries participating, a larger festival, and exclusive experiences to make the run unforgettable. Having the Charles M. Schulz-Sonoma County Airport on board as our title sponsor enhances the overall experience, ensuring our guests receive the warmest welcome to Sonoma County.”
Both STS and N2S have built outstanding reputations in the local community, each sharing common values when it comes to creating economic impact and promoting travel in Wine Country. Featuring the social media hashtag #STSN2S, the partnership aligns two of the region’s tourism partners joining efforts to promote a world-class destination event.
Named after the legendary “Peanuts” cartoonist, STS is a key gateway to Northern California’s wine country and is the perfect arrival point for participants and spectators traveling from around the world for the milestone anniversary event. It is also the closest and most convenient airport for runners flying in.
“We are delighted to continue our partnership with the Napa to Sonoma Wine Country Half Marathon as it celebrates two decades of great races.” said Jon Stout, Airport Manager at STS. “We’re proud to support an event that showcases everything that makes Sonoma County a world-class destination.”
Named one of the most scenic half-marathons in the United States, race weekend starts on the morning of Saturday, July 20 with the Rosé 5K. Featuring an on-course rosé tasting station, the Rosé 5K showcases 3.1-miles of beautiful vineyards and panoramic hillside views, finishing with a post-race “Rosé Garden” in historic Sonoma Plaza.
Sunday’s 13.1-mile main event starts under a hot air balloon at the opulent Cuvaison Winery, just off California Highway 12. Runners enjoy the beautiful vistas of the Napa-Sonoma Marshes Wildlife Area and a number of rustic farms and lavish estates along the route. The final mile takes participants straight down Broadway, past Sonoma’s historical landmarks and ends with a Wine Tasting Festival adjacent to City Hall.
The post-race wine tasting festival is a finish line celebration unlike any other, featuring tastings from top wineries, food trucks, and live entertainment to keep the celebration going. It’s the perfect way to unwind, indulge, and celebrate your achievement with fellow runners and wine lovers.
