Wild Rye Announces Expansion Into Snow Outerwear For Fall-Winter 2025-26
December 4, 2024
Honoring their snowsport roots, the women-led brand unveils its first outerwear collection designed for hard-charging skiers and riders
Sun Valley, ID (Dec. 4, 2024) /OUTDOOR SPORTSWIRE/ – Wild Rye, the premiere active lifestyle apparel brand designed to empower women in the outdoors and beyond, announces its FW25-26 expansion into the snowsports outerwear category, complimenting the brand’s existing winter offerings of merino-wool baselayers and eco-synthetic insulation. Functional and minimalistic in style, the focused collection includes both a backcountry and freeride kit, prioritizing technical construction, proprietary performance materials, unmatched fit, and trend-forward colors.
“A passionate team of lifeslong skiers and bikers, Wild Rye has been committed to offering beautifully designed technical apparel for women in outdoor sports, no matter the season since day one,” said Cassie Abel, Wild Rye CEO and Founder. “Women’s-specific outerwear has been part of our master plan since the beginning, and like anything worth doing, we knew we had to do it right. So after eight years of ideation and three of development, we’re excited to bring to market two unique outerwear kits that speak to the core community of big mountain skiers, backcountry enthusiasts, and avid resort chargers.”
For the Backcountry Baddies– Heyburn Jacket & Bibs
The Heyburn kit is a premium, three-layer lightweight shell built for getting after it in the backcountry. With a clean, functional design, the proprietary fabric balances a soft handfeel, durability, and best-in-class thermal regulation thanks to the NASA-developed Trizar backer. Light stretch and a feminine, ergonomic silhouette allow women to move freely on the up and the down. Additional features include interior stash pockets, armpit zips, two dedicated beacon pockets for user preference, multiple vents on outer and inner leg, and drop-seat access. MSRP: $475 Jacket; $445 bibs
The One-Kit Wonder– Butterfield Jacket & Pants
The Butterfield jacket and pants were built for women who want one kit for both the resort and micro-backcountry adventures. The premium Graphene tech lining provides added warmth through its high thermal conductivity which helps to dissipate heat, pulling it from the body to create improved comfort and temperature regulation. Meanwhile, the durable 30k/30k membrane assures optimal waterproof protection for all-weather conditions. The Butterfield kit boasts a looser freeride cut with features including hood and waist adjusters, interior stash pockets, snow cuffs, removable powder skirt, adjustable hem, thigh vents, and more.
MSRP: $449 Jacket; $375 pants
As a B-Corp brand, Wild Rye is committed to its use of sustainable materials and both the Heyburn and Butterfield kits were designed with BlueSign-certified, Oeko-Tex 100, and 100-percent recycled nylon fabrics. Additionally, the face fabric on the Butterfield kit is a new Seawastex Recycled Nylon (GRS Certified), which upcycles Oyster rope and fishing nets in South Taiwan, where the fabric is produced, into durable nylon fibers. This in turn reduces CO2 emissions and electric consumption by not having to transport the materials for production.
“The industry has recently seen a rise in women’s specific on-piste outerwear, but the freeride and backcountry categories are still untapped from a women’s perspective. We have consumer data showing that women want to buy from women-led brands in this space,” Abel said. “We’re so excited to bring this snow outerwear collection to market, nailing the fit and style our core mountain bike audience knows and loves us for.”
This collection is currently selling into retail and will be available to ship September of 2025.
