COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. /ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – Today, USA Triathlon announced that Atlantic City, N.J. has been selected to host 2024 USA Triathlon Olympic and Sprint-Distance National Championships, USA Triathlon’s largest annual National Championships event.

The event is scheduled for Sept. 13-15, 2024, in Atlantic City, bringing together the country’s best short-course amateur adult triathletes who will race for age group national titles. As USA Triathlon’s longest-running annual event, USA Triathlon Olympic and Sprint-Distance National Championships typically attracts more than 6,000 athletes.

“We’re excited to partner with Atlantic City to create a can’t-miss racing experience in 2024 at USA Triathlon Nationals,” said Victoria Brumfield, USA Triathlon CEO. “USA Triathlon Olympic and Sprint-Distance National Championships has long been USA Triathlon’s marquee event where the nation’s most dedicated Sprint and Olympic-distance triathletes not only compete for age group national titles, but also come together to celebrate the multisport community. We can’t wait for September in Atlantic City.”

The Atlantic City Sports Commission is thrilled to bring this world-class event to our seaside destination,” said Daniel Gallagher, Director of Sports Sales for the Atlantic City Sports Commission “We believe that both our natural landscape and innate amenities will provide the athletes and spectators with an unforgettable experience.”

USA Triathlon has partnered with event production company DelMoSports, which organizes events along the southern New Jersey shore and Philadelphia areas, to support production of the event. DelMoSports’ 2024 CRDA Atlantic City Triathlon on Aug. 3, 2024 will be designated as the Official Training Race of USA Triathlon Nationals.

The racing action at Olympic and Sprint-Distance National Championships begins on Friday, Sept. 13 with the Open Water Swim Competition, which does not require qualification. A kids Splash & Dash will also take place, with details to be released at a later date.

The marquee race events will take place on Sept. 14-15. On Saturday, Sept. 14, athletes will race in the qualification-based Olympic-Distance National Championships, which features a 1,500m swim, 40k bike and 10k run. The action continues Sunday, Sept. 15 with the qualification-based Sprint National Championships, held on a 750m swim, 20k bike, 5k run course. USA Triathlon Olympic and Sprint-Distance National Championships also includes the Clydesdale & Athena National Championships.

Athletes qualify by placing in the top two or top 15% of their age group at a USA Triathlon Sanctioned race. Athletes can also earn qualification by racing at a USA Triathlon State Championship, which offers greater odds to qualify (top 5 or top 35% in an athlete’s age group). The 2024 USA Triathlon State Championships will be announced soon.

Registration for 2024 USA Triathlon Olympic and Sprint-Distance National Championships, powered by TicketSocket, is currently open for athletes who registered for this year’s Olympic and Sprint-Distance National Championships, as well as members of Team USA. Following this early-bird period, registration will open for all qualified athletes and for the Open Water Swim Competition.

Both the Olympic and Sprint-distance races will serve as qualifiers for the 2025 World Triathlon Age Group Triathlon World Championships.
