USA Triathlon 2023 National Championships Return to Fayetteville
December 22, 2022
Ozark Valley Triathlon Weekend set for early June
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (Dec. 22, 2022)/ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – USA Triathlon (USAT) recently announced its full slate of National Championship events and locations in 2023, and for the second consecutive year, Fayetteville will host four national championship races – Off-Road (mountain bike) Triathlon and Duathlon (run-bike-run), and Gravel Triathlon and Duathlon – as part of the 2023 Ozark Valley Triathlon weekend, June 2-4. This will be the first ever National Championship for Gravel Duathlon.
In addition to crowning national champions across multiple age groups in each event, the top 18 finishers in each age group of the off-road triathlon and duathlon will also qualify to represent Team USA at the 2024 World Triathlon Cross Triathlon and Duathlon World Championships. With age groups spanning from ages 17 to 85 and up in each gender for both off-road championships, this means more than 900 athletes can represent Team USA in the 2024 World Championships, which will be held in Australia.
The national championship races are open registration, so pre-qualifying is not required. Any triathlete or duathlete in the US has an opportunity to test themselves against the best age group competitors from across the country and possibly qualify to race for a world championship. With the addition of gravel duathlon, athletes specializing in running and biking now have two options to race competitive run-bike-run events. Athletes not familiar with differences in the disciplines can expect moderate to single-track mountain bike trails for Off-Road Nationals, and wider gravel-based roads and soft-surface running trails for Gravel Nationals.
In addition to the off-road and gravel races, the Ozark Valley Triathlon Weekend also includes an international distance road triathlon and aquabike race, a sprint triathlon and duathlon. Both the international and sprint triathlons will serve as the Arkansas Age Group and Club State Championships. The sprint triathlon will crown the Arkansas High School State Championships.
Registration for all events is now open. Registration links and complete details can be found here.
All events will take place at the Lake Wedington recreation area. The Gravel National Championship race is Friday, followed by the Off-Road National Championships on Saturday with road triathlon events taking place on Sunday.
The Ozark Valley Triathlon Weekend will provide opportunities for family members and friends to support participants in the different events, along with offering door prizes and post-race meals.
