USA Cycling Partners with USC Masters Sports Science to Offer High Performance Internship Program
October 17, 2023
CARSON, Calif. /ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – USA Cycling, the national governing body for competitive cycling in the United States, is thrilled to announce a partnership with the University of Southern California (USC) Masters Sports Science Program. This collaboration is set to provide an educational opportunity for students in a high-performance cycling environment. In an ever-evolving world of sports science and technology, the need for cutting-edge knowledge and practical expertise is paramount to ensuring the success of American cyclists on the world stage.
With USA Cycling’s Track Sprint program based at the VELO Sports Center in Carson, Calif., USC students will have the chance to work firsthand with elite athletes and coaches preparing for international cycling competitions like the Paris 2024 and Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.
Through this partnership, USA Cycling and USC will offer a unique and comprehensive education program focused on Sports Science and Strength & Conditioning in cycling. This program is designed to provide an in-depth understanding of the latest advancements in sports science, biomechanics, nutrition, psychology, and performance analysis, but also strength and conditioning, periodization, and program design among other critical areas. This partnership would not be possible without the help of VALD Performance, RepOne, SRM, Wattbike, and LOOK.
USC’s Biokinesiology Masters program in Sport Science is excited to partner with the world’s experts in competitive cycling at USA Cycling to offer students the opportunity to gain valuable experience in high-performance training. This partnership will help prepare the next-generation sports scientists and strength and conditioning specialists by providing practical experience applying the foundations of sports performance training while learning how to incorporate the advantages of technology for assessment and optimization of performance.
