Tuscaloosa welcomes record breaking crowd for the Visit Tuscaloosa Half Marathon + Publix 5K

TUSCALOOSA, AL. /ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – Tuscaloosa is set to welcome a record crowd of over 1,500 runners from 37 states and Israel for the 12th Annual Visit Tuscaloosa Half Marathon and Publix 5K.  The premier 13.1-mile race is the city’s longest-distance running race offering runners and walkers scenic views of Tuscaloosa.

Runners from ‘Bama and beyond will experience the beauty of West Alabama with the half marathon course winding through the rolling hills along the Black Warrior River, the Tuscaloosa River Walk, portions of the University of Alabama campus, and some quaint downtown neighborhoods. Runners competing in the 5K will loop around Government Plaza off of 6th Street where both races start and finish. After runners finish their tour of Tuscaloosa on foot, they will be welcomed back to Government Plaza with a post-race concert featuring Tab & the Mojo, great food, refreshments from Publix and Coca-Cola, and ice cold beer for runners 21+.

The 2024 Visit Tuscaloosa Half Marathon highlights the important economic and cultural impact that tourism has on this lively city. The race has drawn participants from over 25+ cities in Alabama outside of Tuscaloosa to enjoy the local hotels, restaurants, and experiences that Tuscaloosa has to offer in addition to the weekend’s festivities.
