About this Race
Ultra X, a leading organiser of ultra marathons worldwide, is thrilled to announce the countdown to the upcoming edition of Ultra X Wales, one of the most physically and mentally challenging races in Wales and the UK. Taking place from August 16th to August 20th, this 220km race promises to be an epic celebration of Wales’ breathtaking landscapes, culture, and adventure.
Ultra X Wales presents an unparalleled test of endurance, with over 9,000m meters of elevation gain spread across five days of racing. Participants will conquer seven iconic Welsh Mynydds, including the renowned Cadair Idris, Rhinogydd, and Aran Fawddwy. The race showcases the diverse beauty of southern Snowdonia, traversing famous trails such as the Glyndwr’s Way National Trail, the Wales Coastal Path, the Minffordd Path, and the Cross Britain Path.
As the flagship race in the UK, Ultra X Wales by ASICS has seen remarkable growth since its inception. Now in its third year, Ultra X Wales aims to become one of the largest locally supported and participated ultramarathon in Wales to date with over 300 runners expected over three events, two of which are new for 2023.

The race will culminate on Sunday, August 20th, at Bwlchgwyn Campsite near Fairbourne, where runners from all over the world will complete their incredible journey. This final gathering promises to be a vibrant festival, combining the thrill of achievement with a lively party atmosphere.
Ultra X has gained a reputation for delivering some of the best and most affordable ultra marathons across the globe. With races already held in 15 different locations, including England, Scotland, Tanzania, Jordan, and Mexico, Ultra X continues to expand its horizons.
