The RunnerBox and The RiderBox Partner with Garuka Bar to Donate Inventory to Greater Lansing Food Bank
April 24, 2020
The RunnerBox and The RiderBox, a leading endurance subscription box company and Garuka Bar, a wholesome, handmade nutrition bar curator from Vermont, have partnered to donate 500 bars to the Greater Lansing Food Bank (GLFB), a non-profit organization that provides emergency food to people in need throughout Mid-Michigan.
Food-banks around the country are experiencing immense pressure to keep up with high demand during the COVID-19 pandemic and when the news came in that The RunnerBox could not ship boxes until the May 1st ‘Shelter in Place’ mandate was lifted, the company decided to join forces with Garuka Bar and donate their fresh inventory of Garuka bars to the local food bank to help spread love during these very tough times.
Andrew Giniat of The RunnerBox explained, “Garuka Bars are the perfect partner for this endeavor. These bars consist of wholesome, long-lasting energy and taste delicious, too. Garuka Bar uses 100% recyclable packaging and donates a percentage of profits from every bar to gorilla conservation. They are an incredible company who we are very fortunate to work with.”
“During this crisis we are seeing a lot of first-time clients in our agency system,” said Food Resources Manager, Todd Powell, “These bars will help feed those who need it most.”
Food banks around the country need our support right now. Feeding America has started a COVID-19 Response Fund to help support food banks. If you’d like to provide aid to the fund, head to their website to make a donation or to find a food bank near you: https://www.feedingamerica.org/take-action/coronavirus

About Garuka Bar
Garuka Bars is a small, Vermont based business, hand making energy bars using local raw honey and 100% recyclable packaging since 2011. Garuka Bars takes its name from one of the few remaining mountain gorillas ranging the forests of the Virunga Massif, in Rwanda, and 1% of profits go towards gorilla conservation efforts. Wholesome ingredients that you can see and pronounce, like raw honey, roasted peanuts, whole grain flakes, and dried cranberries make for a delicious snack that provides long lasting energy. Garuka’s name roughly translates to “Return Well,” so when you pick up a Garuka Bar to return your energy, you’re also supporting a cause to ‘return well’ the future of endangered mountain gorillas. Purchase online at www.garukabars.com — all orders ship for just 99 cents.
