The Outdoorist Oath Celebrates One Year and Exceptional Community Growth

(Feb 8, 2023) /ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – The Outdoorist Oath (The Oath), an organization designed to educate and unite outdoor communities with a shared commitment to take action for planet, inclusion and adventure, is proud to announce its one year anniversary, and upcoming first workshop of 2023.

The Oath is directed by Gabaccia Moreno and founded by Teresa Baker, Wyn Wiley/Pattie Gonia, and José González. In just the first year, the quartet welcomed 2,167 “Oath Troublemakers” who took The Outdoorist Oath via their namesake free-to-the-public workshop.

“The Outdoorist Oath was designed as a place for people to come together for the betterment of our planet and community, and has grown to become a guiding force in the outdoor industry for inclusion, representation and activism by individuals and organizations,” said Moreno. “We were blown away by the interest and passion that our Oath troublemakers showed and we will continue to show up for them, helping support change, progression and education, without any BS.”

Other achievements include $26k+ raised by individual donors in 2022, and 3,220 pieces of gear diverted from landfills and repurposed via Gear Up Give Back, a partnership with Outside and Oregon-based The Gear Fix to make it easy for anyone with gear to spare to donate retired outdoor gear and support planet, inclusion, and adventure through The Outdoorist Oath.

The first workshop of 2023 is to be held on February 27th at 6PM MT, and includes a 2 hour Planet, Inclusion, and Adventure spectacular with guest trainers from Leave No Trace. Through February, the Outdoorist Oath team will be introducing new workshop facilitators to the community including; Maya Sullivan (She/her/hers), Sydney Williams (She/they), Lizbeth Luevano (She/her/ella), Justin Tucker, (He/they), Tianna Arredondo (They/them), and Kristy Drutman (She/her).
