NCL’s commitment to team hospitality and its economic structure highlights NCL’s forward thinking approach, which is great for the sport, sponsors, and teams like Voler Factory Racing. As we gear up for the 2024 season, joining the NCL is not just a partnership but a commitment to fostering the spirit of cycling. NCL races are sanctioned by USA Cycling and feature an innovative competition format in which men and women compete on the same team, on the same course, in a way that respects their differences, yet, weighs their performances and values their contributions equally. Men and women riders compete separately in 30-lap, approximately one-mile criterium loops and accumulate points. Riders can substitute in and out anytime during each race’s first 25 laps from the course-side team pit area. Team points are earned each lap depending on riders’ positions. Fans also have access to real-time data and scoring through the NCL’s scoreboard, a first in professional criterium racing.
Embracing this innovative cycling format, the NCL is excited about the future of the league. They are committed to advancing their mission of gender equality and are dedicated to reshaping the U.S. cycling scene, aiming to engage and captivate both new and established fans.
“After a season of getting a feel for the unique new format in 2023, we’re eager to compete in the 2024 NCL Cup series. The series supplements our race calendar perfectly to support the growth of our athletes, putting them in racing situations that require lightning-fast decisions on the road that result in fun and exciting competition,” said Lauren LeClaire, Sports Director for CCB p/b Levine Law Group. “We’re excited to grow our relationship with the organization in 2024 as an NCL sponsored program. It’s important to us to partner with events that put men and women’s competition equally in the spotlight.”
Following the success of the NCL Cup last year, the National Cycling League will continue to expand on its events. The 2024 NCL Cup cities will be announced in the coming weeks.
