The IRONMAN 70.3 Latin American Championship Returns to Brazil in 2025

SÃO PAULO, Brazil / TAMPA, Fla. (Dec. 16, 2024) /ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – IRONMAN and Unlimited Sports have announced Brazil, which has been hosted IRONMAN® and IRONMAN® 70.3® events for over 20 years, will once again host the IRONMAN 70.3 Latin American Championship. In 2025, the honor of hosting the continental competition will go to the Itaú BBA IRONMAN 70.3 Florianópolis triathlon which is scheduled to take place on October 26, 2025 at the beautiful Praia dos Ingleses.

“This is yet another exciting announcement for a season that promises to be special and will undoubtedly elevate the sport to a new level. We anticipate an even higher technical standard, and the presence of elite athletes will inspire new talent. The capital of Santa Catarina, a key player in the Brazilian triathlon scene, will host the two biggest races of the year: the Itaú BBA IRONMAN Brazil race on June 1 and the Itaú BBA IRONMAN 70.3 Florianópolis Latin American Championship on October 26,” said Carlos Galvão, CEO of Unlimited Sports, who owns and operates the IRONMAN branded races in Brazil.

The professional field of athletes will vie for a $50,000 prize purse, along with six slots for the professional men and women to the 2026 IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship triathlon. The Itaú BBA IRONMAN 70.3 Florianópolis Latin American Championship triathlon will offer 75 Age Group Qualifying slots to the 2025 IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship triathlon.

Itaú BBA IRONMAN 70.3 Florianópolis Latin American Championship triathlon will lead athletes along a 1.2-mile (1.9K) swim, 56-mile (90K) bike and 13.1-mile (21.1K) run beginning in Ingleses Beach. After the swim, the single-loop bike course will take participants through a scenic and extremely fast course. Athletes will conclude the race with a three-loop run along sparkling beaches in one of the most beautiful cities in Brazil.

The capital of the state of Santa Catarina in the south region of Brazil, Florianópolis is known for its beaches, lagoons and waterfalls. With a history that dates back over 4,000 years, the area is filled with archaeological sites, landmark houses, churches, museums and fortresses with old Portuguese architecture. Activities abound for athletes looking to try their hand at surfing, backpacking, hang gliding, and mountain biking.
