The Bovine Classic Gravel Ride Returns for Second Year in The Paso Robles, CA Wine Region with Four Mixed-Surface Cycling Courses

America’s fourth hardest, cow-themed gravel cycling event is back this October with podium prizes and a can’t miss afterparty

ATASCADERO AND PASO ROBLES, CALIFORNIA, SEPTEMBER 21, 2023 /ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – The Bovine Classic Gravel Ride will return for its second year on October 28, 2023, in Atascadero and Paso Robles.

Organizers are on a mission to establish this area, which is a well-known wine region, as a globally-renowned road and gravel cycling destination. Last year’s event attracted 350+ riders from 14 countries, 13 states, and 105 cities. Former WorldTour pros including Alison Tetrick and former California Amgen Tour winner Levi Leipheimer also participated. This year’s event, presented by Travel Paso, Visit Atascadero, and Cass Winery, will feature four course lengths offering novice and expert gravel riders alike the opportunity to see stunning views of the Pacific as they wind through oak forests along uncrowded dirt roads. There will be a number of aid stops dotting the courses, including one at an old western saloon.

The Bovine Classic will begin and end in Atascadero’s historic downtown square. A post-ride party will include live music, brews from Firestone-Walker, wine and barbecue provided by Cass Wines, a shopping experience from regional vendors, and a podium prize ceremony.

Industry partners for this year’s event include Canyon Bikes, Voler Cycling Apparel, SRAM, and Gu Energy. Local partners participating this year include Firestone-Walker Beer, Villa Creek Winery, Castoro Wines, Peachy Canyon Winery, and J. Dusi Winery.

The Bovine Classic is partnered with local charity Operation Surf to help send one female veteran to a weeklong surfing camp focused on recovery, healing, community, and wellness.

The Bovine Classic is known as “America’s 4^th-Hardest Cow-Themed Gravel Ride…In a California Wine Region…(in America)” by its creators, but people who did the ride last year called it “the Gucci of gravel events”.

“This event is special,” said one of last year’s riders. “It was better than other big name events. It had the feeling of a mini Gravel Worlds.”
