Sold-Out Pittsburgh Parade Day Dash Presented by GNC Brings Energy and Excitement to Downtown Ahead of Parade

Inaugural event attracts more than 2,500 runners and walkers to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day

PITTSBURGH (March 15, 2025) /ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – A wave of green flooded Downtown Pittsburgh as more than 2,500 runners and walkers participated in the inaugural Pittsburgh Parade Day Dash presented by GNC. The sold-out event offered participants of all ages a unique opportunity to run or walk the 1-mile or 5K course along the historic St. Patrick’s Day parade route ahead of the city’s legendary celebration.

Participants embraced the holiday spirit by dressing in their best green attire, with many taking part in contests and on-course surprises. Runners who were “caught” by the official P3R Leprechaun earned special prizes, redeemable at the GNC tent in Market Square. Additionally, a costume contest rewarded three lucky participants with a free pair of Brooks running shoes, and every participant received a Brooks Lucky Stride ticket for a chance to win even more prizes.

“The Pittsburgh Parade Day Dash was the perfect way to kick off one of the city’s most beloved traditions,” said Troy Schooley, P3R CEO. “Whether participants were racing for a fast time, having fun with friends, or chasing down our leprechaun, everyone played a part in making this inaugural event a huge success. We’re excited to grow this event as a must-do celebration for years to come.”

The fast, flat course made for exciting finishes, with Andrew Zentgraf, 28, of Oakmont, Pa., crossing the finish line first in 15 minutes, 40 seconds, and Jennifer Kobin, 28, of Pittsburgh winning the women’s race in 18:58.

The Pittsburgh St. Patrick’s Day Parade is one of the largest and oldest in the country, dating back to 1869. With more than 20,000 participants and an estimated 200,000 spectators each year, it is a cherished tradition that continues to grow. The addition of the Parade Day Dash has brought even more energy and excitement to this iconic celebration.
