March 20, 2025

GFNY Euro season opens with the 4th edition of the Côte d’Azur extravaganza at GFNY Cannes

March 20, 2025 /ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – This Sunday, the sold out GFNY Cannes offers riders the perfect season opener: the 110.8 km racecourse from the Côte d’Azur into the hinterland and back features a total elevation gain of 2,011 meters. Two significant climbs will decide the race: the 7.5 km ascent of Col du Tanneron and the 13.7 km climb of Col d’Avaye. Now in its fourth year, the race has sold out faster than ever before.

Riders from all over France and across the globe flock to the Mediterranean this weekend to shed winter cycling apparel and kick off their season with a GFNY race,” says GFNY President Lidia Fluhme. “Cannes has, for the third year in a row, been voted World’s best event destination. We’re proud to play a role in it.”

Race week festivities will once again be held at the legendary Palais des Festivals, famous for hosting the Cannes Film Festival. The race itself will kick off on Sunday morning along the Mediterranean coastline, right on Boulevard du Midi.

GFNY riders, their families, and friends will have the chance to experience the glamour of one of the world’s most iconic destinations. From the vibrant jet-set scene on the sandy beaches to luxurious restaurants, bars, high-end boutiques, private yachts, and exquisite hotels lining the famous Boulevard de la Croisette, GFNY Cannes offers an unforgettable experience for all.

Michelob ULTRA GFNY World Championship NYC

The 13th annual Michelob ULTRA GFNY World Championship New York will be held on May 18, 2025. The race features the world’s most international peloton with riders from over 90 countries. It is so international that it’s often described as the United Nations of cycling. Athletes take on a challenging route to compete against each other, the clock, and themselves in a personal endurance challenge.

The official Michelob ULTRA GFNY World Championship NYC website is NYC.GFNY.COM.

Cycling – Pro Racing

At Gran Premio New York City, professional teams race the same course as riders at the Michelob ULTRA GFNY World Championship NYC – but with a 10-minute head start. The second edition will be held on May 18, 2025.

Adding a women’s pro race would elevate the event further. The proposed format would have women starting 45 minutes ahead of the men’s pro race, giving them their own stage. However, the extended road closures required for this addition increase costs by $100,000.

For those interested in supporting women’s racing, GFNY is inviting companies and organizations to help sponsor this important addition. Contact GFNY to discuss partnership opportunities.
