Joe Coddington Joins as Events Director for Running with the Bears™ and Bear Growl Gravel Grinder™

CHICO, CA (March 12, 2021) — Sierra Nevada Connections today announced that Joe Coddington joins as Events Director to run the organizations’ two largest fundraising events, Running with the Bears™ and Bear Growl Gravel Grinder™.

Joe brings decades of event operations, management, and logistics experience to SNC. He’s worked with AMGEN Tour of California, Bigsley Event House, Optum, Cytomax, FASTER, Tri-Sport, Ring of Fire Race Series, UnitedHealthcare, Spintacular Entertainment, Subaru, Stewart Transportation Solutions, Hincapie Sports, Anschutz Entertainment Group, Autism Speaks Inc., Renegade Race Series, and Ravenswood Event Services.

Joe is a former professional cyclist and was a USMC National Cycling Champion. He competed at the elite level until 2008. During that time, Joe founded Asheville Youth Cycling, a youth cycling nonprofit that still operates today in Asheville, NC, his hometown. Upon retiring from professional cycling, he managed the events program of the UnitedHealthcare Pro Cycling Team then joined forces with Project Hero to bring his unique life experience to improve the veteran ride experience through cycling rehabilitation. Most recently, he was running Pedal Productions, his event management company in Chicago.

Joe honorably served as a United States Marine from 1990-1995 and is working towards his B.A. in Entrepreneurship at Western Carolina University. He will be based in the Chico office.
