Sasquatch Racing Launches The Haunted Bay Area Run Tour; an Interactive Virtual Event Like No Other

San Francisco, CA (September 8, 2020)– Sasquatch Racing, the production company behind The Sasquatch Scramble, The Rattlesnake Ramble, and The Krampus Cross Country 5K/10K (& Brewfest) is rolling out their first ‘Virtual 2.0’ event, The Haunted Bay Area Run Tour. The event launches on September 8 and runs through November 15.

Similar to a lot of virtual events and challenges that have rolled out recently, The Haunted Bay Area Run Tour involves covering a VAST amount of mileage (200+) over the span of ten weeks. That is where the similarities to other virtual events end.

As participants log their miles online, they unlock “haunts” or virtual adventures related to the area where they are on the virtual course map. There are over fifteen haunts to unlock during the tour and each includes stories, rumors, and content relevant to each particular haunt in the form of a “choose your own adventure style” piece of interactive fiction where they step into the shoes of a young paranormal investigator seeking answers to the various hauntings included in the tour. All the haunts are derived from real places and urban legends in the Bay Area.

“We’re wading into uncharted waters with our latest virtual running experience,” says Matt Forsman, Founder and Race Director of Sasquatch Racing. “We really wanted to create something that was more of an interactive tour than just a basic virtual race and we think that runners are going to love unlocking the haunts and seeing where the story takes them.”

All participants will be supported throughout their journey via a private Facebook group, weekly Zoom happy hours, and periodic ‘Friday Night Frights’ (screenings of classic scary movies via the Netflix Party Chrome extension).

No matter how many miles are logged or how much of the story is uncovered, all participants receive a comfortable, lifestyle-friendly cotton tee and a glow-in-the-dark race woodallion from Aravaipa Artworx.Registration is open now.
