Salty Sports Society Celebrates Five Years of Promoting Open Water Swimming and Coastal Conservation

February 18, 2025

Salty Sports Society is proud to commemorate its five-year anniversary, marking a significant milestone in its mission to craft unique open water swimming event experiences in memorable destinations.

Fernandina Beach, Florida (February 18, 2025) /ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/  – Since its inception, Salty Sports Society has been dedicated to promoting the sport of open water swimming while fostering a coastal lifestyle brand that resonates with endurance athletes worldwide. By organizing events that celebrate the beauty and challenges of open water swimming, the organization has cultivated a community that values both athleticism and ocean conservation.

Central to these events is the Speedo SALT Series, which has become the premier open water swimming series in Florida. The series aims to provide swimmers with safe opportunities to race in some of the country’s most beautiful destinations.

Over the past five years, Salty Sports Society has hosted a series of notable events on the Speedo SALT Series, including: Swim with Nick, the Deluna’s Open Water Swim, AMI Hogfish Swim, Camp Alligator, the Isle of 8K, the Swim for Alligator Lighthouse, and Southern Cross.

Demonstrating a strong commitment to community and conservation, Salty Sports Society has contributed to several charitable causes over the past five years, including: the Florida Beach Patrol Chiefs Association (FBPCA) that supports initiatives to enhance beach safety and lifeguard training; the United States Lifesaving Association (USLA) Southeast Region’s Education Conference that funds educational programs promoting lifesaving techniques and water safety awareness; and the restoration of the Alligator Lighthouse through the annual Swim for Alligator Lighthouse event. Funds have been raised to aid in the restoration and preservation of this historic landmark off Islamorada in the Florida Keys.

“Each year we look forward to bringing together the open water swimming community for several days of camaraderie, competition, and to benefit worthwhile charitable causes,” said Matt Dunn, Co-Founder.

The success of Salty Sports Society’s events and initiatives have been bolstered by partnerships with esteemed sponsors, including: Speedo, the Title sponsor of the SALT Series, providing high-quality swimwear and gear; Sharkbanz, a shark deterrent technology that increases piece of mind with ocean based open water swimmers; and Beine Wellness Building, molecular genetic testing and sports nutrition that helps athletes train and fuel for optimum performance.

Partnerships from Friends of the Pool, Inc. and the Nicolas Dworet Memorial Foundation, plus destination sports tourism organizations such as Pensacola Sports, the Bradenton Area Sports Commission, Key West and the Florida Keys, and Lee County Sports Development in Ft Myers, FL have all had a hand in the success of Salty Sports Society and the Speedo SALT Series.

As Salty Sports Society reflects on five years of achievements, it remains steadfast in its commitment to promoting open water swimming, supporting coastal conservation, and fostering a vibrant community of ocean enthusiasts. The organization looks forward to expanding its events and charitable efforts in the years to come.
