RunSignup | GiveSignup Opens Registration for 2021 Virtual Winter Symposium
December 22, 2020
RunSignup | GiveSignup, the leading technology provider for US races, opened registration for their 2021 Virtual Winter Symposium taking place January 19-21st.This virtual event includes two days of sessions designed to share cutting edge technology with event organizers and nonprofits, with an optional third day for timers interested in RaceJoy Certification. Registration for the event is free, but space is limited.
The Virtual Symposium is an all-online version of RunSignup | GiveSignup’s biannual educational symposiums for race directors, timers, and nonprofits. This virtual edition is tailor-made for an unprecedented year, with an emphasis on event options for 2021 and the technology that can enhance both virtual and in-person event experiences. The Symposium follows three virtual conferences in 2020 that each drew 550-700 registrants, including a June Virtual Summer Symposium focused on virtual events, a Fall Cram Session to prepare organizers for the fall event season, and a 2021 Kickoff to introduce hybrid events in advance of the new year.
The three days of education provide a framework for event organizers who are getting back in the game after a quiet 2020, as well as technology updates and best practices for those who have been producing virtual and/or in-person events throughout the pandemic.
Wednesday, January 20th begins with a review of industry trends from 2020, an outline of the 2021 technology roadmap, and a strategy for creating events in the new year. The remainder of the day will cover the key components for success in each of the four types of events expected in 2021: virtual races, virtual challenges, in-person events with safety modifications, and hybrid events that combine both in-person and virtual elements.
Thursday, January 21st starts with a panel of event organizers who can share their experiences and lessons learned from hosting events throughout the pandemic. The majority of the day will be dedicated 20 minute micro-sessions covering 20+ key features and tools that organizations can use to save time, attract participants and donors, and create interactive race day experiences, safely.
Timers wishing to be certified in RaceJoy, the GPS-based runner tracking app that can be used in both in-person and virtual events, also have the option to add a Tuesday Certification session to their schedule.
Bob Bickel, RunSignup | GiveSignup Founder and CEO said, “Throughout the year, we’ve seen tremendous demand for education on both our tools and the general construction of pandemic-safe events. Rather than duplicate our normal Symposium schedule behind a screen, we’re taking this opportunity to focus on the event types that race organizers and nonprofits will host in 2021, and the technology that can help them succeed.”
