Registration is now open for the fifth annual family-friendly event at Pittsburgh International Airport, scheduled for Oct. 2
PITTSBURGH, PA (July 20, 2021) – Registration is open for the 2021 FlyBy 5K and 2-Mile Fun Run/Walk presented by CNX Resources. The family-friendly event is officially back after a year long hiatus and will take place on Saturday, Oct. 2. Now in its fifth year, the event gives participants an immersive experience to run or walk the runways at Pittsburgh International Airport. Run by P3R in partnership with the Allegheny County Airport Authority, this year’s event is expected to attract more than 1,500 participants.
“The Airport Authority and P3R have been tremendous partners across the board and we look forward to being back for a third year and another great event in 2021,” said Brian Aiello, CNX Vice President of External Relations and Human Resources. “In addition to being a fun race for friends, family, and colleagues to do together, it’s also an important opportunity to further highlight all the exciting developments at the airport like the innovative microgrid partially powered by our on-site natural gas.”
“Community partnership is incredibly important and the FlyBy 5K is an opportunity for everyone in the region to see the airport from a different perspective,” said Allegheny County Airport Authority CEO Christina Cassotis. “This is a unique event at the airport and we are happy to welcome runners and walkers to the airfield.”
In addition to the exclusive opportunity to run or walk an airport runway, all 5K and 2-Mile Fun Run/Walk participants will receive a technical men’s or women’s finisher’s shirt and medal. Participants can look forward to awards and post-race festivities following the officially timed, closed course event. All proceeds benefit the Allegheny County Airport Authority Charitable Foundation, a non-profit organization established to assist members of the military, families and others traveling through the airport.
“The FlyBy 5K is one of the largest airport runs in the country and we see so many families come out to move together,” said Troy Schooley, CEO of P3R. “We are excited to bring participants back to the runway this year.”
The 5K race will start at 10 a.m. and costs $30, while the 2-Mile Fun Run/Walk will start at 10:10 a.m. and costs $20. This opening week pricing ends on Wednesday, July 21 at midnight. For more information or to register, visit www.p3r.org/flyby-5k/.
