Run Tucson Announces 2025 Downtown Tucson for Everyone Grant

March 28, 2025

Free race entries to Southern Arizona organizations not traditionally engaged with the running community

Tucson, AZ (March 28, 2025) /ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – Run Tucson is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a “Downtown Tucson for Everyone” grant by the Downtown Tucson Partnership.

Sponsored by the Downtown Tucson Partnership and HSL Properties, grants are awarded to events and programs presented in Downtown Tucson that demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, and reach underserved communities.

The 2025 grant provides funding for 25 free entries to the 19th Annual TMC Meet Me Downtown 5k Night Run/Walk and the Festival of Miles.

Run Tucson is matching the grant and will provide up to 50 free race entries for members of organizations and communities that wouldn’t otherwise normally attend run/walk events.

“We’re thrilled to support Run Tucson’s TMC Meet Me Downtown event through our Downtown for Everyone grant,” said Crystal Moore, President & CEO, Downtown Tucson Partnership. “Events like this bring thousands of people together, promote healthy living, and make downtown more welcoming for all.”

In order to reach as many local organizations as possible, Run Tucson has opened its own grant application process, seeking applications from organizations that provide services to the economically disadvantaged, to the disabled, or to historically marginalized communities. Entry offers have already been extended to the veterans of Team RWB, Team Hoyt Arizona, Achilles Tucson, Tucson Indian Center, and Senior Pride. Announcements of the full list of the granted entities will be forthcoming.

Run Tucson’s Randy Accetta says, “We’ve long said that our events are open to all bodies, all ages, and all abilities — and this grant provides resources to more fully include those who have not been part of the mainstream running community. We know that running events can improve our physical fitness and mental wellness by creating productive exercise routines, healthier eating habits, and a more positive self-image. Our hope is to bring these opportunities to a those not normally exposed to this great sport of ours.”
