Keeping Our Events Alive
Hood River, OR – Friday May 29, 2020. Today the Sportsgrants Foundation and Creative Disruption announced a fundraising initiative titled RIDE2020 to create $5,000 to $25,000 small business grants for event organizers on the brink of losing their businesses. The goal for the campaign is to raise $1 million by July 11.
“We are pretty certain we can’t stop the flood that is crumbling the foundations of event production in the US, but if athletes and companies doing business in the endurance space band together, we can at least stop some of the drowning,” said Sportsgrants Foundation Executive Director and Founder, Scott Zagarino.
We are calling on endurance athletes across the US to join us on July 11, 2020 to ride 25-miles in an attempt to raise $1 million to fund as many of these small grants as possible. Fundraisers can complete their ride on the road, on a trainer, or on a stationary bike. In order for a ride to be recorded, a fundraiser has to simply post a photo of their odometer/computer on Instagram with the hashtag #RIDE2020 by midnight July 11. There will be an award of a custom mask for every fundraiser raising more than $100, provided by Eliel Cycling and Wattie Ink.
“As an event organizer over the last 35 years, this has hit squarely at home for me and so many other race directors I know. RIDE2020 was created to bridge the gap to the day we can resume our large gatherings, so we don’t lose all the great events that serve our industry in the most meaningful of ways, experientially,” added Creative Disruption founder, Michael Marckx.

Since its inception Sportsgrants has raised more than $8 million for causes ranging from the Special Operations Warrior Foundation to the Infant Swim Rescue.
