Known for its stunning scenery and varied course options, Outside Magazine has listed the Ride Santa Barbara 100 as one of nine must-do century rides nationwide. The event invites cyclists from around the globe to explore the breathtaking landscapes of Southern California’s American Riviera.

Four Course Options for Every Rider

The 100 Mile is the ultimate challenge for experienced cyclists, featuring the famous Gibraltar Road Challenge. With views of the Santa Ynez Mountains and the Pacific Ocean, this is nothing less than a challenge—the only competitively timed segment is a 6.1-mile climb with an 8% grade gaining in 2,551 ft of elevation. Riders from all over the world come to tackle Gibraltar and see how they measure up. In fact, the fastest known time up Gibraltar Road is 27:12 by 2019 Tour De France Champion Egan Bernal. Annual winners of the Hill Climb Challenge complete the climb in about 30 minutes, with most riders setting a goal to complete it in under 1 hour.

The 100 Mile and 100KM + Climb courses both feature this adventurous climb. All riders who complete the Gibraltar Climb will receive a commemorative finisher coin at the top. That’s not all; riders can push their limits on this iconic climb to compete for the King and Queen of the Mountain (KOM/QOM) Jersey awards.

If you’re looking for something more leisurely, our 34-mile route is ideal for beginner riders or those looking to take in the views at a relaxed pace. Or Try the 100 Km Coastal Route, which offers views of the Pacific Ocean as you pedal to the finish lines.

Whether you’re a seasoned pro or a casual cyclist, Ride Santa Barbara 100 has a course that will inspire and challenge you. All routes start along Santa Barbara’s beautiful beachfront at Chase Palm Park before turning inland, taking riders through exclusive neighborhoods, rolling foothills lined with citrus and avocado orchards, and some of the region’s most famous mountain climbs.
