April 2, 2025

Biosphere 2 and Run Tucson join forces to host the 4th Annual TMC Earth Day 5K Run/Walk

Tucson, Arizona /ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – For the fourth year in a row, Run Tucson and the world-renowned Biosphere 2 are partnering to produce the TMC Earth Day 5K Run/Walk. Taking place on Saturday, April 19th on the grounds of the Biosphere 2 in Oracle, Arizona, the TMC Earth Day 5k celebrates international Earth Day and raises funds for the Biosphere 2 Ocean Reef research project.

Participants can register online or in person on race morning. Registration includes a souvenir short-sleeve shirt, entry into the timed race, live music, and free entry to tour the Biosphere 2.

“Really, every day is Earth Day at Biosphere 2,” said John Adams, Deputy Director and Chief Operations Officer of Biosphere 2. “We showcase the cutting-edge research happening in the world’s largest controlled environment dedicated to understanding the impacts of our changing climate on ecosystems,”

“We are also very excited about our partnership with the Run Tucson,” Adams continues, “which will solidify the connection of the health of Biosphere 1 (Earth) and our health. The TMC Earth Day 5k is a great way to get outdoors, whether you’re a walker or runner.”

Run Tucson race director Randy Accetta adds, “The running community has been impacted by a changing climate in recent years, from forest fire smoke to extreme temperatures, so we’re thrilled to use the TMC Earth Day to support education into scientific innovations. Plus, as a runner, this is one of the most unique race locations you’ll ever find. Between the unique Biosphere 2 architecture and the stunning views of the nearby Catalina Mountains, there’s nothing like it in the world.”

Along with the race, there will be interactive Earth Day learning for all ages, food trucks, age group and overall awards from The Running Shop, and live music.
