R-bies chooses MYLAPS to offer best-in-class sports timing in Japan
November 30, 2023
TOKYO / HAARLEM (30 November, 2023) /ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – R-bies, one of the largest timing companies in the world, partners up with MYLAPS to offer best-in-class sports experiences to event organizers, their participants and fans in Japan. Both parties signed an agreement to work together in the coming years.
Based in Tokyo, R-bies offers timing and data services to more than 500 mass event races per year, including the Tokyo Marathon and other iconic events like the Osaka Marathon and Nagano Marathon. The timing company captures over 2 million chip times each year, an impressive number in the world of sports timing. Since 2022 R-bies is part of the ASICS Group.
BibTag technology – the standard in sports timing
Founded in 1982, MYLAPS is the inventor of automatic sports timing and develops technology that is used all over the world, from the Olympics, major marathons and NASCAR to countless local races. To offer state of the art timing services, R-bies decided to use the MYLAPS BibTag technology. BibTag is the standard timing system for mass events with affordable chips and the highest read-rates in the industry. This timing system was used last month at the Chicago Marathon, where Kenyan Kelvin Kiptum broke the world record. The MYLAPS ThinTag is 75% thinner than regular tags, which results in less waste and less shipment space, which has a positive impact on lower carbon emissions.
Partnership with global leader in sports timing
‘We are thrilled to work together with the global leader in sports timing’, says Yu Korosaki, President at R-bies. ‘We want to use a rock-solid timing system that has the best read rates for all our events. In cooperation with MYLAPS we hope to provide convenient, high-quality timing services to race organizers and runners in Japan and revitalize the running community.’
