Participants Set to “Race Across The Sky” with the Kickoff of 2024 Life Time Leadville Race Series

The iconic run and mountain bike endurance events invite athletes to dig deep and experience the magic of Leadville; Trail 100 MTB celebrating its 30th year
Leadville, Colo. (June 20, 2024)/ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – The Life Time Leadville Race Series, consisting of both run and cycle events, leads participants through the picturesque trails and hills of Leadville, CO as they “Race Across the Sky.” The Series will take place over five weekends in June, July and August and attracts runners and cyclists from across the globe who are ready to push their limits.
In 1983, the Leadville Race Series began with 45 runners and a 100-mile trek through the rugged Rocky Mountain terrain. Today, it is a world-renowned event testing tough-minded athletes both on foot and in the saddle. Series events include:
Leadville Trail Marathon and Heavy Half presented by La Sportiva: Saturday, June 29
The nation’s toughest marathon takes trail runners through the historic mining district’s trails to the highest point of any Leadville Race Series event: Mosquito Pass. The out-and-back marathon course reaches 13,185 feet at its highest point, with an elevation gain of more than 6,000 feet. Reaching the same high point, the Heavy Half is 15.4 miles, with an elevation gain of nearly 3,500 feet. The Leadville Trail Marathon serves as a qualifier for the Leadville Trail 100 Run.
Life Time Leadville Silver Rush 50 MTB presented by Kenetik and Life Time Silver Rush 50 Run presented by La Sportiva: Saturday, July 6 – Sunday, July 7
Runners take on the 50-mile course on July 6, and cyclists on July 7. With 8,000 feet of elevation gain, the 50-mile run and MTB races both act as a qualifying event for the Leadville Trail 100s. Participating in both of the 50-mile Silver Rush weekend events gives athletes the opportunity to claim the title of Silver King and Silver Queen. In addition to the 50-mile races, the weekend boasts a 15-mile run and MTB races, as well as a 5K juniors run.
Life Time Leadville Stage Race presented by Kenetik: Friday, July 26 – Sunday, July 28
A qualifier for the Leadville Trail100 MTB, the Leadville Stage Race tackles the same 100-mile out-and-back course, broken up over three days of racing. The stages include 40-miles, 22-miles, and 41-miles, each with more than 4,000 feet of elevation gain.
Life Time Leadville Trail 100 MTB presented by Kenetik: Saturday, August 10
Celebrating its 30th year, Life Time Leadville Trail 100 MTB is one of the most prestigious endurance cross-country MTB events in the world. Also the fourth stop for the Life Time Grand Prix presented by Mazda, the race features steep and technical ascents and descents, including the storied Columbine Climb and Powerline climb and descent, and an elevation gain of over 12,000 feet.
Life Time Leadville Trail 100 Run presented by Sportiva: Saturday, August 17 – Sunday, August 18
This is the iconic event that started the Leadville Race Series. The Leadville Trail 100 Run is one of the oldest and most storied endurance running events in the world. The ultramarathon features the steep climbs of Powerline, high-altitude passes like Sugarloaf, and technical terrain on the Colorado Trail, all amounting to over 15,000 feet of elevation gain.
In addition to the lineup of endurance races, The Race Across the Sky Expo takes place across the Trail 100 MTB and Run weekends, in downtown Leadville. The event is free and open to the public with product demos, swag opportunities, beer and food vendors, and so much more in celebration of the two of the most iconic endurance events.
