Local Braddock-based company to bring 412-grown greens to runners
PITTSBURGH, PA (February 25, 2021) – P3R has partnered with Fifth Season, making Fifth Season the Official Greens of the DICK’S Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon. This partnership brings together two Pittsburgh-based organizations in alignment on health and wellness.
Fifth Season is positively disrupting the food industry with its advanced technology used to keep greens fresh all year round. All Fifth Season produce is grown locally without pesticides and is delivered within hours of packaging. Their greens stay fresh more than three times longer than field-grown products.
“We know how important healthy food and fresh produce is to the running community, so this partnership aligns with our mission and vision,” said Austin Webb, co-founder and CEO of Fifth Season. “Our sustainably farmed produce is the fresh food needed to fuel runs.”
“Runners are always asking us for healthy food ideas, and this partnership will introduce our runners to an innovative, Pittsburgh-built company that is committed to bringing healthy, sustainable food solutions to our local community,” said P3R VP of Partnerships & Runner Experience, Caroline Fitzgerald.
Fifth Season salads come in a variety of pre-packaged sizes and are available throughout Pittsburgh at select Giant Eagle locations and can also be delivered directly to customers’ doors. Local community members and businesses can order Fifth Season salads and greens at www.fifthseasonfresh.com.

About FIFTH SEASON
Fifth Season is delivering an entirely new category of hyper-local, fresh food with their ready-to-eat salads and sustainable leafy greens grown inside their proprietary vertical farms with proprietary robotics and AI. Fifth Season’s newest vertical farm in Braddock, Pa., a historic steel town on the edge of Pittsburgh, features a 25,000-sq.-ft. grow room with twice the growing capacity of traditional vertical farms. It is set to grow more than 500,000 lbs. of produce in its first full year of operation. The company’s fresh, tender lettuces, spinach, “Bridge City” and “Three Rivers” blends, and herbs each receive individualized attention as sensors monitor every condition — humidity, pH, light, nutrient mix — and adjust to each plant’s needs. Fifth Season can even determine the perfect nourishment to give varietals their own buttery or crispy, soft, sharp, or tangy flavor and texture.
