Wilmington, NC – BB&T and SunTrust now Truist and the NHRMC Wilmington Marathon Weekend announced a major partnership naming of the longstanding running event. The 11^th annual NHRMC Wilmington Marathon and Runner’s Expo is set to take place March 20-21, 2020.

“We are incredibly excited to add a sponsor like BB&T and SunTrust now Truist that consistently supports area events and charities,” said Tom Clifford, Event Director. “The addition of major, well known and respected brands like the BB&T and SunTrust now Truist elevate the status and visibility of the NHRMC Wilmington Marathon as we strive to always improve and continue to grow.”

BB&T and SunTrust now Truist and the event team designed the partnership to enhance the overall experience for runners, spectators, visitors and the residents of the Cape Fear region. The partnership will provide an enhanced expo, special discounts for runners and promotions designed to amplify the marketing of the event and bring more participants and spectators to the Wilmington Area.

“The additional marketing is an important aspect of any of our larger partnerships because we redesigned the course to start at Johnny Mercer Pier and finish on Water Street in Downtown Wilmington making this a point to point destination race,” added Clifford. “Our sponsors help get the word out that this will be one of the top marathon courses in the country. We also want residents and visitors to be aware of the new road closures.”
