New Name, Same Great Race: The Great Pumpkin Run Undergoes Name Change
March 24, 2020
Everyone’s favorite fall tradition is now known as Gourdy’s Pumpkin Run
NEW YORK – The popular, award-winning fall race formerly known as The Great Pumpkin Run has undergone a name change for the 2020 fall race season. Coming off a successful, 20 race season, including a Virtual Run that had over 18,000 participants, the family-friendly 5K is now Gourdy’s Pumpkin Run, named after the race mascot, Gourdy. Still keeping up with everyone’s favorite fall flair, participants can expect all aspects of the race to stay the same, they’ll just be seeing a little more of their pumpkin friend than they have in previous years.
“After eight years hosting this event, Sour Fish Events is excited to finally give Gourdy the credit he deserves. Even though Gourdy is now the namesake of the event, it’s still our favorite fall tradition that our participants have grown to love. While The Great Pumpkin Run will always be a part of our story, we’re excited to see where Gourdy takes us this fall and in the years to come,” said Sour Fish Events Co-Founder, Courtney Young.
Registration for Gourdy’s Pumpkin Run launches this Friday, March 27 at 12 PM ET, with more locations expected to launch in the coming months. Additionally, those interested will be able to sign up for volunteer opportunities, where they can earn free race registration or have a donation made to a charity of their choice.

About Gourdy’s Pumpkin Run
Gourdy’s Pumpkin Run, formally The Great Pumpkin Run, is a 5K run that has taken place on farms, and in many major cities throughout the Midwest, East Coast, and South for the past 8 years. Runners receive a glass of apple cider and a pumpkin at the finish line, where they celebrate the best of the fall season with their friends and family. Gourdy’s Pumpkin Run also has a virtual option, wherein participants are able to complete the 5K and enjoy fall festivities within the comfort of their own neighborhood, on their own time.
