Michigan-based Craft Brewery Takes Gold in Barrel Aged Pale Beer Category
Holland, MI (Dec. 21 2020) – New Holland Brewing of Holland, MI is proud to announce that it is a recipient of three medals at the prestigious 2020 US Open Beer Championships. New Holland, known for its innovative and unique approach to brewing, was up against breweries from Luxembourg to Louisiana, and the submissions of over 6,000 beers across over 140 styles.
New Holland Brewing’s Dragon’s Milk White was awarded a Gold Medal in Barrel Aged Pale Beer, a flagship item in New Holland’s Dragon’s Milk portfolio. The Bourbon Barrel-Aged White Stout wowed the judges with its strong notes of vanilla, cocoa, coffee roast, and oak.
New Holland’s Hazy River IPA took Silver in the hugely competitive Hazy Pale Ale category. Hazy IPAs have routinely been the most populated category year-after-year, so to take home silver in the most coveted category in craft beer is a pinnacle achievement for the brewery.
Finally, New Holland’s Dragon’s Milk Solera, a unique foeder-aged ale new for 2020, took Bronze in the Barrel Aged Strong Ale class. Solera was a standout release in the Dragon’s Milk lineup this year, having been aged in a series of American oak foeders using a blending technique known as solera. Nuanced flavors of caramel, toffee and fig create an experience made to be savored. This legendary ale will continue to evolve with each pull from the foeders, becoming more complex over time.
“The medals are well deserved for our brewing team,” said New Holland Director of Brewery Operations, Jason Salas. “We put a huge amount of work into beer quality for every product we send out, so to be recognized in this capacity is deeply satisfying. Our team is incredibly passionate about what we do and care so much about delivering a savored moment to all of our fans through painstakingly crafted brews. Personally, I am so proud of all the people we have here at the brewery. We truly love beer and everything about it.”
