Muscatine Triathlon Debuts With $5000 1st Place Prize Purse & Family-Friendly Festival

Muscatine, Iowa /ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – Start off the 2025 New Year with a resolution to compete in the 1st Annual Muscatine Triathlon presented by Sqwincher. This Sprint Class Triathlon will be held on Saturday, August 2, 2025 starting at 8:00 am at Deep Lakes Park, just south of Muscatine, Iowa. Start training on January 1 and you will have a full seven months to prepare. There will be an Elite Division for those that want to compete for a HEFTY prize purse of $5,000 for first place finish, $2,000 for second, and $1,000 for third. Additional prizes will be awarded based on age groups.
Deep Lakes Park is a 435-acre County Park with 120-acres of clear, deep-water lakes and numerous small ponds. The Triathlon will start off with an out and back 750-meter swim across Lake Chester. The second leg will also be an out and back. The 12.4-mile bicycle ride will go down Pettibone, across Wiggins, south on Stewart Road and returning on the same route. The last leg will be a 5K run, North on Pettibone, west on 41st Street, to the turn-around, then running the bicycle trail back through the park to the main access. The entire race will be on a closed-circuit course to provide a safe and competitive race for all skill levels of athletes.
Athletes can compete as an individual, completing all three events on their own, or as a team of 2 or 3, dividing up the swim, bike, run. The Muscatine Triathlon features an Elite division giving the professional athletes an opportunity at the prize purse. There will also be a Clydesdale and Athena division. The Muscatine Triathlon is a USA Triathlon sanctioned event. Athletes will be able to use the finish times from the Muscatine Triathlon as an official qualifying time for national competition.
The Muscatine Triathlon’s mission is to promote overall good health, resilience, and community spirit by providing athletes of all levels a challenging and supportive environment to test their endurance and personal limits. It strives to create a fun, family-oriented event that celebrates Muscatine’s unique charm, fosters community connections, and encourages support for local businesses.
Festivities will begin the evening of Friday, August 1st as participants get registered, pick up their swag bags, and view the course. The city of Muscatine will be shutting down part of 2nd Street and hosting a “Taste of Muscatine” for community members and triathletes.
On Saturday, August 2nd the race will begin at 8:00 am. In addition to the Triathlon, there will be food vendors, and a Signature Farmers Market set up in the park. There will also be family and youth activities taking place at the beach and other areas throughout the event. MUSCO Lighting will be providing their Fan Experience Screen allowing spectators to view the event on a large-scale viewing screen within the park. The Muscatine Chamber of Commerce would like to invite everyone to the “After Party” on the Mississippi Riverfront located in the Downtown Business District of Muscatine following the event. This will include live music, food, and family fun!
