HONG KONG (Nov. 21, 2024) /ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – Mount to Coast™, the first performance shoe brand to specialize in ultra running and long-distance pursuits, today at The Running Event in Austin debuted two new shoe designs and a new bio-polymer-made midsole. In its sophomore year, the brand will launch into the trail category, release its first road-to-trail shoe, and introduce CircleCell™, a new midsole material made entirely from organic waste that provides industry-leading longevity and sustainability for runners.

“Everyday runners should not have to decide between performance and sustainability,” says Yeti Zhang, Mount to Coast’s head of product. “Our goal is to innovate at the frontier of eco-friendly materials science and endurance goals without compromising the most important needs of ultra runners – durability and comfort. We are excited to now be able to invite trail runners into our community and offer the most durable and eco-friendly shoe on the market in 2025.”

in part in our first shoe designs and midsole technology, and our next wave of releases in 2025 will ,” says Yeti Zhang, Mount to Coast’s head of product. “Everyday runners should not have to decide between shoes that will support their endurance goals and sustainability.

After focusing on road racing in our first year, we are eager to invite trail runners into our growing community.

We know from athlete feedback and consumer insights that, when it comes to choosing an enviro a shoe that is technically when it comes to , above all else, runners require a level of durability and comfort in a shoe that can withstand all terrain types, all weather conditions and provide cushion over hundreds of miles.

T1 is a long-distance cross-country shoe designed for complex rocky and technical trails. It includes LightCELL, Mount to Coast’s signature midsole base material, making it 50 percent lighter than EVA and providing 45 percent more energy return. The upper is a durable, Kevlar yarn mixed woven outfitted with the brand’s TUNEDFIT Dual-lacing System. A Vibram™ Lightbase sole decreases the overall weight of the shoe while Vibram’s Megagrip provides superior grip utilizing 4mm outsole shark tooth lugs. Engineered to tackle long distances, T1 accommodates for foot splay and swelling, something ultrarunners often incur, with a wide toe box and modest stack heights (heel 35 mm, forefoot 31mm, 4 mm drop).

CircleCELL™ will be the foundation for Mount to Coast’s H1, a hybrid, road-to-trail design that offers endurance athletes an all-terrain shoe. The midsole is made without any fossil feedstocks, replaced entirely by BASF’s BMB ecoflex®, a raw material generated from organic waste and residual biomass. The biopolymer is converted into the CircleCELL™ midsole material after a unique supercritical foaming process. It results in a shoe foundation that boasts a 90% increase in longevity when compared to PEBA-made shoes and outperforms other midsole materials available on the market in density and rebound with a more sustainable compound.

Between Mount to Coast’s collaboration with BASF to create CircleCELL™ and its LEED Gold Certified manufacturing partners, Mount to Coast has successfully transitioned parts of its supply chain to a circular, more ecologically balanced model. Additionally, Mount to Coast’s manufacturing facility sources and releases nitrogen from the atmosphere in its supercritical foaming process and powers 15% of its electricity through solar energy.

T1 (9.5 oz / 268 g) will launch in the summer of 2025. H1 (9.2 oz / 260 g) will launch in the fall of that year. Mount to Coast will offer new colors that coordinate with seasonal changes in 2025, with green, yellow and blue varieties across the in-line R1, P1, and S1 models.
