More Than 2,000 Cyclists Cross Finish Line at Sold Out Life Time Lutsen 99er presented by Visit Cook County

June 29, 2024

Participants represented 36 states and two countries; Winners included Minnesota, Wisconsin, Nebraska

Lutsen, Minn., (June 29, 2024) /ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – The 2024 Life Time Lutsen 99er presented by Visit Cook County welcomed more than 2,000 cyclists to the Lutsen Mountains on Minnesota’s picturesque North Shore of Lake Superior for a full day of mountain bike racing today. Finishers raced in one of four distances, including the 29, 45, 69 and signature 99-miles. Kids events also were offered on June 28.

Due to recent storms and significant rainfall, a number of route modifications were made to ensure rider safety and race continuation. This included moving the 99er race to the 69er route.

Despite the changes, cyclists embraced the mud while experiencing iconic sections of races past, like Caribou Climb and Honeymoon Trail. Participants ranging from age two to 78, traveled from 36 states and two countries to experience the unparalleled views and terrain the North Shore is known for.

“Life Time Lutsen 99er is all about adventure and community,” said Peter Spencer, Event Manager at Life Time. “Without the community that came out to clear and prepare the course this week following storms, we wouldn’t have been able to experience the adventure of exploring Lutsen’s trails on two wheels. Thanks to everyone who helped us kick off summer on the North Shore.”
