The Davis Phinney Foundation a Beneficiary of Bikes Blues & Bayous
Greenwood, Miss. — As live sporting events start to come back to center stage for athletes and fundraisers, the Davis Phinney Foundation is thrilled to be one of the beneficiaries of the Bikes Blues & Bayous cycling event in Mississippi on Aug. 7, 2021.
The Greenwood-Leflore County Chamber of Commerce will once again host the 14th annual BBB, Mississippi’s largest bike event. Distances are available for cyclists of all skill levels, including 10-mile, 20-mile, 46-mile, and 62-mile options.
The Davis Phinney Foundation is honored to once again be included in this event! Members of Team DPF, the fundraising community arm of the foundation, will be participating in this fun-filled and generous event. The Davis Phinney Foundation supports many programs and events that help people with Parkinson’s live their best lives today through quality of life research, extensive online education, community support, and many sporting events.
“Since co-founding BBB, I have continually helped with the planning and organization of the event each of the past 14 years. It has certainly been rewarding to be a part of its growth,” says Richard Beattie.” And, what I’m most thankful for, is that BBB has provided an opportunity to partner with the Davis Phinney Foundation to support its important mission. It’s my way of paying back the Foundation for helping me to live well with Parkinson’s today!”
Filled with Southern fun, warmth and hospitality, the cycling event features a pre-ride welcome party and a Finish Line featuring free barbecue, cold beverages, live Blues music and finisher medals. All rides begin in historic downtown Greenwood. The 2021 USA Jersey made by Primal, will benefit the Davis Phinney Foundation. There is a bike raffle and so much more. Register here.
The Davis Phinney Foundation was founded by Olympic cyclist Davis Phinney in 2004 to help people with Parkinson’s live well today. The organization’s focus is to provide programs and resources that offer inspiration, information and tools that enable people living with Parkinson’s to take action that can immediately improve their quality of life. Parkinson’s is the No. 2 neurodegenerative disease — second to Alzheimer’s — and affects more than 1 million people in the United States. The Foundation’s work impacts hundreds of thousands of individuals and families each year.
Team DPF is the grassroots fundraising community that supports the Davis Phinney Foundation through participation in a wide range of athletic and community-based events. With a focus on fun, personal empowerment and fundraising for Parkinson’s, Team DPF welcomes all ages and abilities. With roots in cycling, Team DPF also extends to runners, climbers, swimmers, hikers, community events and more. Team DPF is sponsored by: Primal, AltRed, SCRATCH Labs, Supernus, Amneal, The Sufferfest, Rick Baker Insurance, Roll Massif, Trek and Wahoo Fitness. Visit dpf.org to learn more.
