Magic Sports Announces New Title Sponsor for 43rd Annual Music City Triathlon

February 18, 2025

Nashville, TN – (February 18, 2025) /ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – Magic Sports, Nashville’s premier race production company, is excited to announce that Ashley Whitney, a Nashville-based realtor with Crye-Leike, is the new Title Sponsor for the 43rd Annual Music City Triathlon. The event, now officially named the Ashley Whitney Music City Triathlon, will take place on June 1, 2025, in downtown Nashville next to Nissan Stadium, home of the Tennessee Titans. The triathlon, one of the three oldest triathlons in the country, is expected to draw over 1,000 participants and offers both sprint and Olympic distance options.

Ashley Whitney steps into the role previously held by Eddie Ferrell, a long-time supporter of the race who recently relocated out of state. Like Eddie, Ashley represents Crye-Leike, continuing the company’s legacy of support for Nashville’s thriving endurance sports community.

“I’m honored to support this incredible race that has meant so much to me and the Nashville community over the years,” said Ashley Whitney. “Having grown up here, competed as a swimmer in the Olympics, and raced in triathlons myself, I know firsthand how special this event is. I’m thrilled to help carry on its legacy and to be part of such an iconic event in my hometown.”

A decorated athlete, Whitney earned a gold medal at the 1996 Olympic Games as a member of the U.S. women’s 4×200 freestyle relay team at just 16 years old. She now serves as the Masters Swim Coach for the Nashville Aquatic Club (NAC) and is an active triathlete who actually raced her first ever triathlon with Magic Sports at their Mountain Lakes Triathlon in 2004.

Joe Fleenor, Co-Race Director of Magic Sports, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership. “Ashley embodies everything this event stands for—dedication, passion, and a love for sport. Her background as an elite athlete, coach, and local Nashville sports icon makes her the perfect fit to lead us into this next chapter. We’re grateful for her support and excited for the future of the Music City Triathlon under her sponsorship.”

Faye Yates, fellow Co-Race Director, echoed the sentiment. “We want to thank Eddie Ferrell for his years of support and are thrilled to have Ashley step in and continue Crye-Leike’s commitment to this race. The Music City Triathlon has a storied history, and with Ashley’s involvement, we know it will continue to grow and inspire athletes of all levels.”

The Ashley Whitney Music City Triathlon is a signature event in the Nashville sports calendar, offering a premier racing experience in the heart of Nashville. Participants get to enjoy a down-stream swim in the Cumberland River with the Music City skyline as the backdrop, bike on a closed 4-lane highway, and run along city streets with outstanding community support. As an added bonus, Olympic distance racers get to start the race by jumping off Nashville’s iconic General Jackson Showboat.
