Long Beach Marathon Highlights Partnership with the Aquarium of the Pacific for National Aquarium Month

Long Beach, California – June 29, 2023 /ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – The Long Beach Marathon and Half Marathon is kicking off its partnership with the nonprofit Aquarium of the Pacific during National Aquarium Month in June. The two community institutions are once again coming together to host the Aquarium of the Pacific 5K, one of Southern California’s 3.1-mile races, on Saturday, October 14, 2023.
As the official running kickoff to the marathon weekend festivities, the Aquarium of the Pacific 5K will take participants on a scenic route along the Long Beach waterfront before concluding at the Aquarium. “June is recognized as National Aquarium Month, and what better way for us to celebrate than by sharing this announcement that combines the love for running and the awe-inspiring wonders of the aquatic world,” said Phyllis Blanchard, director of partnerships for the marathon. “We are honored to partner with the Aquarium of the Pacific on its 5K. This racecourse is like no other, as it winds through the breathtaking exhibits of the Aquarium. Participants will be surrounded by vibrant marine life, providing a truly immersive and enchanting race experience.”
This collaboration between the Long Beach Marathon and the Aquarium of the Pacific aims to promote community well-being, raise awareness about ocean conservation, and provide a unique race experience for participants. As part of its 25th Anniversary Celebration, the Aquarium of the Pacific is offering an array of new exhibits, events, and programming throughout the year. This includes the Aquarium’s new Southern California Gallery, which opens on July 1, 2023. Participants in the Aquarium of the Pacific 5K will have the chance to witness these additions, providing a special experience for both avid runners and marine enthusiasts.

The Aquarium of the Pacific is partnering again with the Long Beach Marathon events team to host their 5K Run/Walk, happening this year on Saturday, October 14, at 7:00 a.m. The scenic course will loop through Shoreline Village Park, past the lighthouse in Shoreline Aquatic Park, through Queensway Bridge, and around the Aquarium.
