Life Time Releases Details for 2022 Chicago Triathlon, Aug. 27-28

Athletes from across the globe, including 800+ first time participants, will compete in one of world’s most popular endurance races
CHICAGO – (July 21, 2022)/ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – The Life Time Chicago Triathlon, one of the most recognized endurance races in the world, is returning to the waterways and streets of the Windy City August 27 and 28.
The Life Time Chicago Triathlon, owned and produced by the nation’s premier healthy lifestyle brand, provides athletes unparalleled access to the nation’s top metropolis via a protected harbor swim, a dynamic, multi-level bike ride, followed by a scenic run through the Museum Campus. All courses are wheelchair and para-triathlete friendly. To date, more than 5,000 athletes from 44 states and 14 countries are registered; the youngest age 6 and the oldest 89. Additionally, more than 800 first-time participants are expected to compete, partially due to the efforts of The Life Time Chicago Triathlon First-Timers’ Program and the Life Time Tri Club, which work to prepare and encourage participation for new triathletes.
Last year, Brett Colins of La Grange, Ill., took home the Men’s International Division title with a time of 1:59:57, while Chicago resident Daniel Raleigh broke the tape first in the Men’s Sprint Division event with a time of 1:12:19. Chicago’s own Susan Fanning won both the Women’s International race and the Women’s Sprint event with times of 2:21:18 and 1:22:11, respectively.
Life Time Chicago Triathlon weekend kicks off with the Multisport and Fitness Expo on Friday, Aug. 26 at the Hilton Chicago followed by the Life Time Kids Triathlon and the Life Time Chicago Triathlon SuperSprint Saturday, Aug. 27. The Sprint and International division races take place on Sunday, Aug. 28. Additionally, the Triple Challenge will be offered once again, allowing competitors to compete in three events totaling 59 miles spanning Saturday and Sunday. The Triple Challenge features a 1.63-mile swim, a 46.3-mile biking distance and a 10.85-mile run.
The weekend schedule and race distance breakdowns are as follows:
Saturday, Aug. 27
- 7:00 a.m. – Juniors Kids Tri (100m swim, 2.2-mile bike, .62-mile run)
- 8:00 a.m. – Seniors Kids Tri (200m swim, 4.4-mile bike, 1.24-mile run)
- 10:00 a.m. – SuperSprint (.47-mile swim, 6.2-mile bike, 1.5-mile run)
Sunday, Aug. 28
- 6:00 a.m. – International (.93-mile swim, 24.8-mile bike, 6.2-mile run)
- 8:08 a.m. – Sprint (47-mile swim, 15-mile bike, 3.1-mile run)

Notable groups looking forward to race weekend include longtime Life Time Chicago Triathlon partners Tri-Masters, whose mission is to expose inner city youth and families to the benefit of healthy living through the sport of triathlon, and Live Grit Soars, which helps young people in underserved communities build physical and emotional strength through the sport of triathlon. Combined, the two organizations are training nearly 100 children for the Kids Tri.
Additionally, more than 30 athletes will be competing as part of the Dare2Tri group, an organization whose mission is to enhance the lives of individuals with physical disabilities and visual impairments by building confidence, community, health and wellness through triathlon.
The Multisport & Fitness Expo, regarded as the top show in sport, is free and open to the public from 1 – 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 26 and 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 27 at the Hilton Chicago, 720 South Michigan Ave.
