Life Time Launches Virtual FitGiving Challenge During November

Month-long event creates fun daily challenges and activities focused on improving fitness and giving back culminating with a virtual 5K on Thanksgiving Day; Dollars raised will support schools across the nation

CHANHASSEN, Minn., Nov. 12, 2020 —While most Turkey Day 5Ks and Turkey Trot races are flying the coop in 2020 because of COVID-19 precautions, Life Time, the nation’s premier healthy way of life brand, has launched the Life Time FitGiving Challenge presented by Invisalign in an effort to keep people focused on their health and happiness this holiday season.  This 26-day event will provide participants with daily actions to take, all laddering up to key categories such as strength, mindfulness, endurance, nutrition, speed, recovery and play. At the end of the challenge, the reward is two-fold—to have gained personally and have given back, entering the holiday season on a positive and uplifting note.

The FitGiving Challenge runs from November 1 through November 26 and will offer daily physical challenges as well as broader, weekly do-good initiatives that offer a choice of actions, such as:

• Take Action: call a friend, donate to a local charity, vote
• Make Someone Smile: Pay it forward, compliment a stranger, share a joke
• Spread Love: Support a local business, send a loved one flowers, assist a neighbor
• Be Thankful: Jot down three things you’re thankful for, put down your phone and be present with friends or family, share your “finish line” picture from the FitGiving virtual 5K

Participants will be able to track their completed challenges on their individual RunSignup page, unlocking badges as they go and showing their progress and activity with others who’ve signed up. The Challenge ends with a virtual 5K on Thanksgiving Day that can be done before or after the typical 3,000 calorie Thanksgiving meal is consumed. Every participant will be sent a medal and two enamel pins to share with loved ones.

For each participant that unlocks all eleven badges, Life Time will donate $5 for COVID-related costs and to improve nutrition in school lunches through the Life Time Foundation, which partners with 25 school districts across the country and impacts more than 1.5 million students. Life Time has also introduced a referral program for the FitGiving Challenge; for every three people registrants refer to take part in the event, $5 will be credited back against the original entry fee, up to $10.
