LEOMO Launches Remote Saddle-Fitting Service for Cyclists and Triathletes

This first-of-its kind service supports saddle selection based on motion data in collaboration with Japan’s top retail bike shop

BOULDER, CO (Dec. 2, 2020) — LEOMO Inc. and Tokyo-based Nalsima Friend Co., Ltd., which operates Japan’s premier bike specialty shop, have jointly launched the world’s first remote cycling saddle-fitting service. This service is aimed at helping cyclists and triathletes select the optimum saddle by combining the rental saddle service provided at Nalsima Friend’s Jingu store and the technology-enhanced remote bike-fitting service LEOMO recently launched in Japan and will soon launch in the U.S.

A cyclist will receive rental saddles and a LEOMO rental kit at the Nalsima Friend Jingu store in Tokyo. The LEOMO rental kit includes the TYPE-S Sensor Kit Pro that has already been setup, so no initial settings are required. To go through the measurement process, the cyclist will be asked to perform a simple riding test on their own bike equipped with five motion sensors and a rental saddle.

The data collected from the test quantifies the movement of the cyclist’s feet, legs and pelvis while pedalling based on LEOMO’s advanced Motion Performance Indicators. After it is shared on a cloud platform, LEOMO’s sports science team will conduct a data analysis and provide feedback and suggestions about saddle selection and the cyclist’s position on the bike.

The Nalsima Friend store has about 50 saddles available for rental at all times, including models from Specialized, Fizik, SMP and gebioMized. Customers will take the LEOMO rental kit and two rental saddles home for the test ride according to the width of their pelvis and the width of the saddles based on insights from staff recommendations.

LEOMO’s debut of the saddle-fitting service in Japan follows the successful launch of its remote bike-fitting service in September. LEOMO is planning to launch its remote bike-fitting service and remote saddle-fitting service in the U.S. in late 2020 and in Europe in early 2021.
