The trophy ceremony marked a perfect conclusion to this second edition of the Muntanyes de Prades Epic Trail Costa Daurada, which awarded €25,000 in prizes and proved to be a great success for both organizers and participants.

The second edition of the Muntanyes de Prades Epic Trail Costa Daurada has crowned the winners of its longest races. After both making the podium in 2023, Julen Calvó Team Gozalbo and Gemma Arenas Jom Trail returned to the scenic red village to etch their names in gold in the MDP 90K ultratrail. Meanwhile, Andreu Simón and Oihana Kortazar claimed the top spots in the high-speed CDF 50K.
The event kicked off at 6:00 a.m. from the Civic Center of Prades, in Baix Camp (Tarragona), with 284 participants (including 14 women) setting out into the Muntanyes de Prades. Due to recent heavy rains, the usual route had to be modified, resulting in a course of approximately 87 kilometers with a 5,000-meter elevation gain.
Andreu Simón and Oihana Kortazar Dominate the CDF 50K
The Cingleres de La Febrò (CDF), which was shortened to approximately 45 km with 2,000 meters of elevation gain, was the other distance held on Saturday. With 139 participants (including 24 women), it was a true spectacle marked by intense pacing at the front of the race. Andreu Simón Asics Team claimed victory in his Prades debut, while Oihana Kortazar Team Salomon defended her title from the first edition.

The shortest and most intense races of the Tarragona event took place. Oriol Gibert and Denisa Oprinca won the 12K race, while around thirty children participated in the non-competitive 6K race. The event, which awarded €25,000 in prizes, was once again a resounding success.
The Muntanyes de Prades Epic Trail Costa Daurada has just wrapped up its second edition. Following the longer races held on saturday, this amazing weather Sunday morning welcomed the 25km and 12km events, as well as a non-competitive 6km category that allowed a group of children to experience trail running alongside their parents.
At 9:00 a.m., 343 runners set out to conquer the courses with a 1,150-meter ascent up to the Ermita de l’Abellera (EDA), where Ryunosuke Omi and Núria Llansó emerged as champions.

“We are very pleased with how everything went. The rain forced us to modify some routes, and we discovered new and exciting possibilities that, in some cases, will remain for future editions. Additionally, we saw an increase in registrations compared to last year, and the feedback we’ve received has been very positive,” stated Lluis Yebra, Chairman of Club Trail.cat and Head of organitzation team.

With the satisfaction of having achieved its goals, the Muntanyes de Prades Epic Trail Costa Daurada looks to the future, with its third edition set for November 8–9, 2025. Registration will open in December 2024.
