Donates to the Sparkle On Foundation to Support Student-Athletes Pursuing Racing Dreams
PARK CITY, Utah — May 21, 2021 — Jaybird, a leader in wireless headphones for outdoor sports and fitness enthusiasts, today announced its partnership with professional bike racer, Kate Courtney. Courtney is the current Elite XC World Cup Overall Champion and the 2018 World Champion – the first American to hold those titles since 1991. She is a member of the internationally renowned Scott-SRAM MTB Racing Team. Courtney will also be representing the U.S. at the 2020 Olympic Games.
Through the National Interscholastic Cycling Association (NICA), Courtney recently launched a new scholarship called the Sparkle On Scholarship, recognizing and supporting student-athletes who have demonstrated academic and athletic excellence, and plan to attend college and continue mountain biking. Courtney understands the challenges that come with transitioning to college and balancing studies with racing. In support of her dedication to help student-athletes take their MTB racing to the next level, Jaybird has made a donation to the Sparkle On Foundation. This will enable Courtney to create new opportunities for the participating students with the additional resources they will need to keep their cycling dreams alive. Jaybird is proud to support this foundation and believes in amplifying diverse voices and supporting inclusive communities for the modern athlete.
“Kate exemplifies what it means to simply be the best on and off the course,” said Russell Nadel, Head of Partnerships, Jaybird. “Kate’s passion, intensity and willingness to break down barriers as a trailblazer in cycling is admirable. We couldn’t be more proud to support her and her work with the Sparkle On Foundation to pave the way forward for aspiring racers and promote the growth of the sport, particularly among women and girls. We’re excited to be sharing her stories with the world.”
“Listening to tunes on the trail always helps motivate me during the toughest training exercises,” said Courtney. “Jaybird’s earbuds provide me with the sound quality and comfort I need to focus on my adventures at all times, and they are tough enough to withstand the most grueling courses and weather. I’m thrilled to have the brand’s support both on my bike and off, as I continue to pursue my sport at the highest levels and encourage and support mountain biking through my foundation.”
