IRONMAN Pro Series Start Lists Announced for the 2025 Memorial Hermann IRONMAN Texas North American Championship

- The Memorial Hermann IRONMAN Texas North American Championship triathlon readies for a Battle Royal with many of the sport’s best heading to The Woodlands to compete in the first full-distance IRONMAN triathlon in North America in the 2025 IRONMAN Pro Series - Designated as the North American Championship, the event offers a $175,000 total pro prize purse and a maximum 5,000 IRONMAN Pro Series points - All-star field highlighted by 2024 IRONMAN Pro Series Champion and defending Memorial Hermann IRONMAN Texas Champion Kat Matthews (GBR), three-time and reigning IRONMAN 70.3 World Champion Taylor Knibb (USA), and 2022 IRONMAN World Champion Chelsea Sodaro (USA) - World class men’s field to include three-time and reigning IRONMAN World Champion Patrick Lange (DEU), 2022 IRONMAN World Champion Gustav Iden (NOR), and 2021 IRONMAN World Champion Kristian Blummenfelt (NOR)

THE WOODLANDS, Texas / TAMPA, Fla. (April 10, 2025) /ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – More than 90 professional triathletes are slated to toe the start line at the 2025 Memorial Hermann IRONMAN^® Texas North American Championship triathlon on Saturday, April 26. The fourth event in the 2025 IRONMAN Pro Series™, and the first full-distance IRONMAN triathlon in North America offers a $175,000 total pro prize purse, five qualifying slots for each gender to the 2025 IRONMAN World Championship^® triathlon in Nice, France (men’s race) and Kona, Hawai`i (women’s race), and also has an IRONMAN North American Championship title on the line.

Taking place in The Woodlands (a northern suburb of Houston, Texas), the 2025 Memorial Hermann IRONMAN Texas North American Championship triathlon event can be seen live in person and will be available across multiple platforms for viewers around the world, for free, including proseries.ironman.com, Outside TV for US and Canada viewers, DAZN and L’Equipe in France, iQIYI and YouTube among others.

Kicking off her 2025 IRONMAN Pro Series campaign in the women’s professional field will be 2024 IRONMAN Pro Series Champion and defending Memorial Hermann IRONMAN Texas Champion Kat Matthews (GBR). Matthews will face some stiff competition from the likes of three-time and reigning IRONMAN^® 70.3^® World Champion Taylor Knibb (USA), who will be taking on only her second full-distance IRONMAN triathlon following her fourth-place finish at the 2023 IRONMAN World Championship race in Kona. Also looking to make an early stamp on the season will be 2022 IRONMAN World Champion Chelsea Sodaro (USA), who proved her world class pedigree by finishing on the podium, one place behind Matthews, at the IRONMAN World Championship race in Nice last year.

Also likely to feature at the pointy end of the women’s race are Australia’s Penny Slater, who finished second in Texas last year and tenth in the inaugural IRONMAN Pro Series last year; Danielle Lewis (USA) who finished sixth in the 2024 IRONMAN Pro Series and took her first IRONMAN win in Lake Placid last year and comes fresh off a podium finish at the Athletic Brewing IRONMAN 70.3 Oceanside triathlon; Alice Alberts (USA), 2024 IRONMAN Pro Series ninth place-getter, and 2023 IRONMAN Lake Placid and IRONMAN Maryland winner; and Canada’s Tamara Jewett, who will be stepping up to her first full-distance IRONMAN triathlon and comes to Texas after an impressive run split that took her to a fourth place finish at the Athletic Brewing IRONMAN 70.3 Oceanside..

Other challengers for the women’s title include Stephanie Clutterbuck (GBR), Haley Chura (USA), Julie Iemmolo (France), Regan Hollioake (AUS) and Chloe Lane (AUS).

On the professional men’s side, three-time and reigning IRONMAN World Champion Patrick Lange (DEU) is also back with a bid to defend his title in Texas. 2022 IRONMAN World Champion Gustav Iden (NOR), and 2021 IRONMAN World Champion Kristian Blummenfelt (NOR) also headline a ferocious field of world class contenders. Looking to chase down these three World Champions will be the likes of Rudy von Berg (USA), hot off the heels of his second place finish at the Athletic Brewing IRONMAN 70.3 Oceanside race and returning to Texas for the first time since his win in The Woodlands in 2023; France’s Leon Chevalier, who will make his first trip to Texas after racing in South Africa last month which followed his fourth place finish at the 2024 IRONMAN World Championship triathlon in Kona; Matthew Marquardt (USA) who took fourth place in the 2024 IRONMAN Pro Series; and Denmark’s Kristian Høgenhaug, 2024 IRONMAN Pro Series’ third place-getter, who will return to Texas for the first time since 2018.

Not to be underestimated are also the likes of Daniel Bækkegård (DNK), Robert Kallin (SWE), Matt Hanson (USA), Ben Kanute (USA), Trevor Foley (USA), and Matt Burton (AUS) among many others.

The 2025 Memorial Hermann IRONMAN Texas North American Championship triathlon will lead athletes along a full-distance IRONMAN journey through The Woodlands with a spectacular finish line experience on Waterway Ave. The event will begin with a 2.4-mile point-to-point swim inside Lake Woodlands starting at North Shore Park before embarking on a 112-mile two-loop bike that traverses portions of the Hardy Toll Road. The 26.2-mile marathon run allows athletes to soak in one of the most spirited spectator-lined courses on the IRONMAN circuit, with athletes racing through Hippie Hollow—an area lined with tie-dye banners, twinkling lights, and costumed performers.

In addition to the professional field, more than 2,600 age group athletes will compete at the 2025 Memorial Hermann IRONMAN Texas North American Championship triathlon alongside the professionals on the same course, looking to earn age group qualifying slots to the 2025 IRONMAN World Championship triathlons in Nice, France (men’s race) and Kona, Hawai`i (women’s race).
