iFit Connected Fitness Lets Cyclists Race the Tour de France via Streaming 112-Part Ride on NordicTrack and ProForm Cycles

September 18, 2020

(Logan, UT) – September 18, 2020—iFit, the patented, interactive, connected fitness technology, is now streaming the most comprehensive Tour de France ride in celebration of the 107th edition of the race. iFit members can virtually ride all 21 stages of the 2020 Tour de France course, in a whopping 112-part iFit Google Maps series ride. Members will take in authentic Google Street View images as they break a sweat in iFit’s version of the tour. iFit members will feel a sense of camaraderie and participation in the annual excitement that surrounds the event.

“The Tour de France is arguably the most iconic and exclusive cycling race in the world,” said Mark Watterson, President of iFit. “Now, combined with iFit’s leaderboard feature, members can challenge their friends and family to friendly competition in their very own Tour de France race.”

The iFit Tour de France cycling series covers a total distance of 2,220 miles segmented into 112 rides, so members can pedal at their own pace. Riders begin in Nice, travel through six of France’s most picturesque regions and 32 departments, ending in Paris at the traditional finish line. Scenic and challenging highlights iFit members can look forward to are France’s five mountain ranges: the Alps, Massif Central, Pyrenees, Jura and Vosges.

For members with iFit-enabled cycles, such as NordicTrack and ProForm, the incline, decline and resistance automatically changes to reflect the natural grade of the road they’re virtually riding. The Tour de France’s steepest grade is approximately 12%, which is fully experienced when iFit automatically inclines a cycle — which makes for an even more transportive and true-to-life experience, all from the comfort of members’ homes.

Those riding on cycles without iFit technology can stream the iFit Tour de France ride and make resistance and incline adjustments manually. Simply download the iFit app in the Apple Store or Google Play, sign up for the 30-day free trial, prop the smartphone on the equipment and follow along. Consumers can also cast from their smartphone via Apple TV or Google Chromecast for an even more immersive experience.
