February 27, 2025

BOSTON, MA, UNITED STATES /ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – New England’s favorite 5-Mile road race, the Harpoon 5-Miler presented by PUMA will return on Sunday, May 18, 2025. The 24th edition of this premier road race through South Boston is SOLD OUT, and proudly celebrates the 5-Miler community’s recent milestone of raising $3 million for the cure and care of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), a heartbreaking and fatal disease.
With entries capped at 4,500, the Harpoon 5-Miler is not just any race; it’s the perfect blend of fitness, fun, an important cause, and of course, Harpoon beer! Harpoon 5-Miler runners will be treated to a scenic out-and-back tour through the Seaport with the signature finish at the Harpoon Brewery where an unforgettable post-race dance party with DJ Steve Greco will be waiting!
The Harpoon Brewery, a pioneering craft brewery based in Boston, started the race 24 years ago with an outstanding team of volunteers. Since its inception, the race has raised millions of dollars for the Angel Fund for ALS Research. A second ALS charity, The Pete Frates Foundation, has been added in 2025 as a beneficiary. All proceeds from the Harpoon 5 Miler will be donated to these two non-profit organizations.
Adults aged 21+ can register on www.harpoon5miler.com while space remains! Registration for the Harpoon 5-Miler and donations for the ALS partners are hosted by RunSignup’s best-in-class technology platform. Relying on RunSignup’s seamless registration flow and powerful race insights, Harpoon 5-Miler has built and fostered incredible runner loyalty, positioning the race as the not-to-be-missed May race in New England.
The Harpoon 5-Miler races across the Summer Street Bridge, connecting the bustling Seaport to South Boston. With signature views of Boston Harbor, the Black Falcon Cruise Terminal and the skyline of downtown Boston providing a stunning backdrop, every runner gets to enjoy the flat and fast course along the waterfront.
This year’s buildup to the Harpoon 5-Miler features a few changes and updates. To accommodate the surging interest in the race, registration was moved forward to early February. Building on the success of the pilot program in 2024, and in order to provide a better runner experience and create more space at the brewery, all 2025 race kits will be shipped in advance to runners so they can arrive at the Harpoon Brewery on May 18 ready to race in their PUMA running shirt and bib number.
Additionally, the Harpoon 5-Miler team will have a booth at this year’s Boston Run Show at the Boston Convention and Exhibit Center on Saturday, March 1 and Sunday, March 2, mere minutes from the Harpoon Brewery. Attendees at this year’s Boston Run Show are encouraged to stop by the Harpoon 5-Miler booth (J32), support our ALS partners, score some PUMA swag and then cap off their weekend at the Official After Party at the Harpoon Beer Hall on Saturday and Sunday evenings – a perfect way to celebrate in the Seaport.
“It’s important that we celebrate the New England running community and support runners where they are, just as this community has supported the Harpoon 5-Miler and our ALS partners for the past 24 years,” added Harpoon’s Charlie Storey. “Supporting the Boston Run Show at the BCEC right here in the Seaport is a natural fit and great opportunity, especially as we look forward to celebrating the 25th Harpoon 5-Miler in a big way in May 2026.”
