Nakatsu, Japan – The Gran Fondo World Tour® (GFWT®) Series is proud to announce its arrival in Japan

Nakatsu, Japan (January 22, 2025) /ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – The Gran Fondo World Tour® (GFWT®) Series is proud to announce its arrival in Japan with the exciting addition of the Tour of Yabakei, scheduled to take place on May 11, 2025. This marks a significant milestone in GFWT®’s expansion efforts in Asia, bringing the series to a key region known for its vibrant cycling culture and breathtaking landscapes.

“Japan has been one of our target markets since the beginning, and we are thrilled to host this incredible event in Yabakei in 2025,” said Dani Buyo, CEO and Founder of Gran Fondo World Tour®.

Set in the picturesque region of Yabakei, Nakatsu, the event offers participants a unique opportunity to experience Japan’s scenic beauty, rich cultural traditions, and warm hospitality. Unlike a traditional speed race, the Tour of Yabakei is a leisurely cycling event that allows participants to soak in the stunning surroundings. Riders can enjoy aid stations featuring local ingredients, making the event as much about culinary and cultural discovery as it is about cycling.

Yabakei is one of Japan’s “Three Great Gorges,” recognized as a National Scenic Beauty. The valley, framed by dramatic rocky cliffs and lush forests, is a paradise for outdoor enthusiasts, including hikers, cyclists, and photographers. The history of this iconic destination, named by the scholar Rai Sanyo and protected by Fukuzawa Yukichi, adds a layer of cultural depth to the event. Cyclists will traverse steep slopes and routes that evoke a sense of accomplishment, reminiscent of challenging hill climbs.

The Gran Fondo World Tour® Series is committed to fostering a global cycling community and looks forward to welcoming participants from around the world to this remarkable event.
