Gnarly Nutrition Announces Range of Motion Project and Asian Trail Mix as Fuel For Life Grant Winners
September 19, 2022
Salt Lake City, UT (September 19, 2022)/ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – Gnarly Nutrition is thrilled to announce the winners of their Fuel for Life Scholarship to provide funding for endurance sports groups. Of 152 overall submissions, 10 finalists were selected to create a video submission to be considered for the two grants. Gnarly is excited to share that the Grand Prize was awarded to Range of Motion Project and the People’s Choice, selected by public voting, was awarded to Asian Trail Mix.
Range of Motion Project, recipient of the $12,000 Grand Prize, will use the grant money to pursue their mission of showing the world the power of mobility and the importance of equitable access to prosthetic care. This year, ROMP’s team goal is to summit Cotopaxi, Ecuador’s second highest volcano–with all 50 states plus 20 additional countries represented at the summit. In doing so, the ROMP team plans to raise $150,000 to directly fund necessary prosthetic care for 100 patients in Ecuador so that they can take their first steps towards their own summits. ROMP plans to use the Gnarly grant to cover some of their team costs towards their Cotopaxi global campaign. “ROMP’s programs and mission embodies many of Gnarly’s values, including sustainability, diversity, and equity. Everyone, regardless of geography or socioeconomic status, deserves equitable access to healthcare,” says Dave Krupa, founder and ED of ROMP. “Using the Gnarly grant, combined with the help of technology and community, ROMP can help people push their possible.” In addition to funding, Gnarly is excited to provide ROMP with $500 of Gnarly products to use during the Cotopaxi summit and training, as well as 50% off any additional Gnarly product for their team for 12 months. The Grand Prize winner was chosen by a panel of outside judges, including Gnarly Nutrition athletes and partners, such as Lael Wilcox, Dylan Bowman and Kelly Halpin.
Asian Trail Mix, the People’s Choice winner, will receive a $3,000 grant to help jumpstart community building and team initiatives. Asian Trail Mix is a trail running community based in New York City that was created to promote diversity and inclusion for people of color, especially AAPI individuals, at all levels of fitness. Samantha Dong, founder of Asian Trail Mix, says “Winning the Gnarly scholarship will provide invaluable support for ATM’s inclusiveness mission by helping us subsidize race fees and transportation costs to trail run locations that are inaccessible by mass transit.” Asian Trail Mix also plans to use the Gnarly funding to purchase supplies and team uniforms to be used at their events. They hope to increase their members’ visibility and sense of belonging in the broader trail running community.
“It was exciting to see so many incredible submissions for Gnarly’s first ever grant campaign,” says Gnarly Nutrition’s Marketing Director, Liz Esche. “We were amazed by the efforts of these teams throughout the application process, including community volunteering and trail cleanups – especially from the 30 semi-finalists and 10 finalists. The two winning teams are well-deserving of the grant money and we can’t wait to see how they put the funding into action for their upcoming projects. All of the finalists are capable of driving an immense impact in their communities, and Gnarly is already planning to partner with many of these incredible teams in 2023.”
