Riders will tackle a brand new race course in Ponce for the 3rd edition

New York City, November 21, 2024 /ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – This Sunday, the city of Ponce, also known as “Pearl of the South”, will host GFNY Puerto Rico. The race offers participants two options: a competitive long course of 130.8km with 2637m of climbing and a non-competitive medium course of 71 km, both offering riders the chance to experience the island’s breathtaking views, challenging climbs, and fast descents.

“A GFNY in Puerto Rico is a must-have for me because there are a lot of GFNY riders in the island’s community and because it’s an amazing place to ride and race,” says GFNY CEO Uli Fluhme. “We’re glad to have a new organizer with Salvador Rovira and his team. He’s an esteemed local business man and GFNY rider so he brings to the table what it takes for a great rider experience.”

Race week kicks off at Complejo Ferial de Puerto Rico, where activities include GFNY Puerto Rico’s group rides on Friday and Saturday where riders get to do a relaxed ride together with friends and competitors. Riders will start and finish in the heart of Ponce, before embarking on a journey through the island’s spectacular countryside.

Michelob ULTRA GFNY World Championship NYC

The 13th annual Michelob ULTRA GFNY World Championship New York will be held on May 18, 2025. The race features the world’s most international peloton with riders from over 90 countries. It is so international that it’s often described as the United Nations of cycling. Athletes take on a challenging route to compete against each other, the clock, and themselves in a personal endurance challenge.

Cycling – Pro Racing

At Gran Premio New York City, professional teams race the same course as riders at the Michelob ULTRA GFNY World Championship NYC – but with a 10-minute head start. The second edition will be held on May 18, 2025 and aims to be at 1.1 level with World Tour teams racing.
