After 4064m of climbing, Marcela Prieto and Kieran Gordge win the third edition a continent away from home

New York City, June 26, 2024 /ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ The famous pilgrimage town of Lourdes hosted the third edition of GFNY Lourdes Tourmalet this past Sunday. The racecourse was 157 km long with an elevation gain of 4064 m and included the legendary Pyrenées climbs Col d’Aspin and Col du Tourmalet.

Under foggy weather conditions, French Hugo Badorc put in the first attack, extending his lead to almost three minutes. However, during the ascent of Col d’Aspin, South African Kieran Gordge put the hammer down and crested the summit of famous Col du Tourmalet with a 3 minute lead. Descending just as strong, he finished solo in 04:35:55 back in Lourdes, over 4 minutes ahead of last year´s champion Nicolas Capdepuy (France). Hugo Badorc still had energy left to complete the podium in a 7-man sprint to the finish.

In the female race, GFNY Monterrey double champion Marcela Prieto (Team Patobike BMC) took the solo win in 5:15:40, 14 minutes ahead of her team mate Diana Rodriguez (Team Patobike BMC) and GFNY Cannes 2023 champ Delphine Reinert (France) in third.

Next up on the GFNY calendar is the second edition of GFNY Costa Rica which will take place Sunday, July 2, 2023.
