GFNY 2020 season gets underway at GFNY Bali

GFNY Bali is a season starter that will beat the winter blues and take riders on a journey through Bali’s spectacular landscape.

NEW YORK CITY, February 20, 2020 – The 2020 GFNY Global Cycling Marathon Series starts this weekend, Sunday, February 23. Bali, also known as ‘Island of the Gods’, will take riders on a picturesque journey showcasing the island’s lush beauty.

For the second year running, Wyndham Tamansari Jivva Resort is the preferred host hotel, offering an amazing retreat, pre and post ride. A short 6km ride from the start and finish in Klungkung.

The competitive long route encompasses 134km with 2167m of climbing. After following the island’s coastal road for 35km, the route turns inland to Amlapura and from there with a long climb to the crater rim of volcano Gunung Batur. From the top, it’s a long descent to the finish in Klungkung.

The 103km medium non-competitive route will not include the climb to Gunung Batur, but instead, will descend via Bukit Jambul with beautiful coastal views all the way back to Klungkung.

The top 10% of finishers on the competitive route will qualify for the racer corral at the 2020 GFNY World Championship NYC.

GFNY World Championship NYC

The 10th annual GFNY World Championship New York will be held on May 17, 2020. The race features the world’s most international peloton with riders from over 90 countries. Athletes take on a challenging 100-mile route from NYC to Bear Mountain to Fort Lee to compete against each other, the clock and themselves in a personal endurance challenge.
