May 2, 2023
London, UK /ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – The Professional Triathletes Organisation (PTO) today announced a new sponsorship with Garmin, who will become the Official Transition Sponsor of the 2023 PTO Tour.
Starting with the PTO European Open in Ibiza on 6 May, the sponsorship will see Garmin champion the fastest transition times through graphics on social media and broadcast, as they build on the PTO and Garmin’s shared desire to improve and grow the global triathlon and cycling communities.
“We are excited to be an official sponsor for the Professional Triathletes Organisation and its world class PTO Tour,” said Susan Lyman, Garmin Vice President of Global Consumer Marketing. “Many of the world’s top triathletes trust our state-of-the-art multisport smartwatches and GPS cycling computers that are packed with features to prepare them ahead of the big event and perform at an elite level on race day.”
Multiple Garmin-sponsored athletes will participate in this year’s PTO Tour, led by PTO World #3 Magnus Ditlev and PTO World #5 Anne Haug, and including Rudy von Berg, Patrick Lange, Tim O’Donnell, Holly Lawrence, Skye Moench and Laura Siddall. From training to race day, these athletes rely on Garmin’s full suite of triathlete products — including the Forerunner® 965 and fēnix® 7 series smartwatches, Edge® 1040 Solar cycling computer, Tacx® NEO 2T smart trainer, Rally™ power meter pedals and the HRM-Pro™ Plus heart rate monitor — as they compete at the highest level.
“Garmin is the leader in its field, which is something we admire and also aspire to at the PTO,” said Sam Renouf, PTO CEO. “We want to make the PTO Tour the pinnacle of the sport, and in order to do that, it helps to join forces with the best commercial sponsors out there. Garmin’s wearable products are a top choice by many professionals who compete in our races to ensure no time is wasted in the vital ‘T1 and T2’. As the Official Transition Sponsor of the PTO, Garmin will showcase the fastest athletes in what is known as the triathlon’s ‘fourth discipline.’”
The 2023 PTO Tour starts in Ibiza on 6 May with the first-ever PTO European Open, before going to Milwaukee on 4-5 August for the PTO US Open and then to Singapore for the inaugural PTO Asian Open on 19-20 August.
The PTO European Open women’s field includes the top PTO Ranked female athletes and the men’s field contains all three of the Olympic gold medalists in the sport since 2008 – Kristian Blummenfelt, Jan Frodeno and Alistair Brownlee. Both races will be broadcast live around the world courtesy of the PTO Tour’s sponsorships with Warner Bros. Discovery. Coverage starts from 0800 CET on Eurosport 2 this Saturday, 6 May.
