From Campus To The 50-Yard Line: Getem Services Big Blue 5K Delivers Big

NORFOLK, VIRGINIA (APRIL 29, 2025) /ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – The 2025 Getem Services Big Blue 5K presented by Sentara was a resounding success as 1,950 runners, walkers, and supporters gathered at Old Dominion University (ODU) to raise funds for the Old Dominion Athletic Foundation (ODAF). Participants enjoyed a scenic route through ODU’s vibrant campus before finishing on the 50-yard line of Kornblau Field at S.B. Ballard Stadium, a thrilling highlight for athletes of all ages. Participants were also cheered on by 10 different ODU sports teams placed throughout the course.

Following the race, attendees celebrated at a lively post-race tailgate party, complete with delicious food, refreshing beverages, and live music from The Steals. The festive atmosphere brought together the ODU community, alumni, and local runners for a day of fitness, fun, and philanthropy. As the premier charity partner, participants will have the chance to run in support of the organization by fundraising or donating directly, helping to expand its impact in the community.

Amy Frostick (Race Director & ODU Alumni) praised the event, stating “We are thrilled with the incredible turnout and energy at this year’s Big Blue 5K. Seeing the community come together to support ODU Athletics while enjoying a fantastic race experience is what this event is all about. Proceeds from the event will directly benefit the Old Dominion Athletic Foundation, helping to provide scholarships and resources for ODU’s student-athletes.
